I really want a new lcd monitor. Currently I'm using a ViewSonic VX922. I like it a lot, but I want something bigger so I can take full advatage of my system. I'm specifically looking at around 24 inches, I could go a little smaller or bigger, depending on price and quality. I also would like to hook up my Wii, and television(satellite), etc to it. I've been looking at the Gateway FHD2400, and so far I like it a lot. It has plenty of input connections. My price range is about $500-600. So what do you guys think would be a good monitor. Also, would my system be able to handle (new/demanding) games at 1920 x 1200? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Yeah you could handle most games at that res, but forget AA and AF for many of them. My build is about the same, but with a 8800 GTX. I went with a 22" and can play most games maxed at 1680x1050. I decided to go with the samsung 226BW and honestly it is the best monitor I have owned. The colors and contrast are awsome, plus I have no noticable light bleed at all.

If you go with a 24", expect to have some problems with a few games. Crysis for instance will run horribly at the native res. Really the question you need to ask is "do i want high res with medium to low settings, or a lower res with higher settings?" Also remember that while you may be able to play many games at that res today, by no means should suggest that you will be able to in games released 6-9 months from now.

ya i also suggest getting a 22" lcd, its quite a large size and a nice upgrade over a 19", and u can still max out most-all games with 60+fps

i must suggest this very new model of LG monitors that i picked up from best buy recently...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8739118&st=l227twg&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1201913867539

it is an AMAZING monitor(u must see it in person for yourself, the picture on the site does not nearly represent it as nice looking as it really is), i did side by side comparisons with this to the samsung 2232bw and samsung 226cw, and the LG REALLY has better color, clarity, picture that the 2 samsungs(but the samsungs are also great monitors themselves), and the LG has this unexplainable vivid "pop" look to it that is amazing looking

defintly check it out

Thanks guys for the help. I will definitely check out both of those monitors in person soon. I suppose if it came down to it and I got a bigger monitor and I couldn't run a certain game at max resolution, I could just the lower the res to play it with higher settings. (until I upgrade or whatever)
