I recently bought a new LCD monitor. My first LCD so Im still getting to know about them. Anyway since Iv been using it every so often my computer will "freeze" or the picture on screen will. I still get sound as if the computers running fine, none of the LED lights seem to be doing stuff to make me think the computers frozen. But the screen just stay's the same. Is this a common issue with LCD monitors? The monitor is a Viewsonic VA1918wm 19" widescreen. It works perfect normally and I have no issues with it other then this occasional freezing. Ofcourse this could be my computer freezing but if it is its only just started since i got this monitor. Thanks for any help or info you guys can provide. :)

No, that shouldn't be happening. If you went out and purchased a new Plasma TV and were watching some DVD and all of a sudden the picture froze on screen for a few moments, even though the movie was still playing, that just wouldn't be right. I sure hope you'd take that TV in to get replaced. However, with a computer, there can always be more then one reason something is acting wrong until things are narrowed down. Perhaps your refresh rate is wrong, maybe the drivers for the monitor are bad and you need to see if there are new ones out there to install, maybe your GPU is having troubles supporting your new resolution (or it doesn't support it at all), maybe there is just something wrong with your monitor....maybe it is something else? My 22" LCD has never froze the picture on me, unless my computer froze for some reason or another. I know my reply isn't very much help, but no TV/monitor should freeze on you unless something is wrong.

Chances are slim it's the monitor.
