the last couple revisions of beta drivers have stomped all over the whql ones in most every way, speaking as an 8800 user. i'm still on 163.67 though, because i'm tired of breaking rivatuner compat and forcing driver emulation mode -_-

Yea, that fixes things like HL2. When I spoke to BFG, they said the hotfixes are also to help people getting the BSoD in vista (trust me, a lot of people are with 8800's.. google "nvlddmkm.sys driver stopped responding" )

Do I need to go search for past hotfixes too?

Yeah, would you like me to tell you that the July WHQL driver has been released? Until the next latest driver has been released, I'll keep you guys posted w/ BETA drivers, some people actually see an increase in performance.

I just had to back out the 164.44 ( or is it 163.44)beta drivers for my rig. I was getting a lot of "Display stopped working but recovered" errors messages.

Vista 32-bit geforce 7600GT 1GB ddr 400, i forget which one but driver 162 something i noticed a performance increase , not much 5.8 with aero to 5.9 with aero, but still its an increase, most of the drivers are just getting SLI to work and fix other reported probs

improve dx10 compatabilty and stuff.
