hi, my PC has recently been making a scratching/clicking noise, I'm not sure how long it's been doing it, but I have just noticed it now.

I immediately thought it was the HDD, and removed the side panel to listen close, once I took the side panel off, it stopped. When I place the case near the pc, the clicking stops, it doesn't even have to be completely attached. I can have like 2 inches between the side panel, and it being secured, and the clicking noise will start. The fans are definetly not hitting it, and I dont see any wires or anything touching the fans.

Is this just a normal noise all pc's will make, and I'm just noticing this now, or is something up?

It does not make a sound like something is hitting something, as it gets quieter and louder, sometimes stops completely for a few seconds,

Maybe there's some odd vibrations going on if a part isn't attached properly or maybe it's just a bad case. Pretty hard to guess as I can't hear it for myself. It's definitely not something that should happen either way so keep digging.

The strange thing is nothing is hitting the case, all pc's make noise right? Maybe i'm just paranoid, I wouldn't call this a very bad sound, a gentle clicking or scratching I would call it.

Doesn't appear to be, I don't think theres any way because there is some blockage between the panel and the fan.

doesn't really sound like that.. I will upload a video and let you guys listen to it

Lol. After watching your Video, I hear the "clicking" sound you're referring to. It sounds to me like it's just your hard drive. Mine makes the same noise. That's normal. As far as the removing and replacing issue, not sure. I think you're hearing the tower vibrating, which in turn is causing the side panel to rattle against the steel frame of the tower. Loose screw? Something preventing the tower from closing tightly? A screw come loose inside and rattling around on the bottom? Check it out. Hopefully this isn't a new computer, because taking off the side panel completely voided out your warranty.

Now THIS is weird, when I cover the vent on the side panel, the noise goes away, when I uncover it, it comes back.
