Hey guys, Im planning on getting a new computer sometime soon hopfully and have been looking at what I should get. Iv come up with these few main things so far, but I tend to worry about the compatability of things. Would anyone happen to know if these things will run fine with each other.

Mobo - Asus M3A79-T-DELUXE AM2+

CPU - AMD Phenom X4 9950

GPU - Asus Radeon HD4870 X2

RAM - Corsair Micro TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

You might have a little trouble getting the memory to be at 1066.. based on motherboard reviews

But you're good to go.

Would that be much of a drop in performance with the RAM? Also perhaps someone could recommend something better then it. I'll be using the computer for alot of gaming as well as video editing and graphics.

Currently my computers got:

Mobo - Asus A8N-SLI Premium

CPU - AMD Athlon64 3200+

GPU - HIS X800 265mb

RAM - KINGSTON DDR400 1gb

Used to be great when I got it about 3-4 years ago, but lately its just not enough. Also, Iv always been an AMD kinda guy, but I suppose if it takes me awhile to get my new build, I might consider an intel depending on what other options AMD have if any.

I'd recommend going with the Sapphire 4870x2 over the ASUS. It's cheaper and has a better warranty for the same performance.

What sort of budget are you on?

i7 will be coming soon, but the prices of new processors are likely to be very high (as well as being Intel when you said you prefer AMD/ATI).

My Budget atm is about $1500AU, but by the time Iv figured out exactly what I want to get I'll probably be around the $2500-$3000 area. But thats incuding all the things I havnt stuck in the list, like monitor, keyboard, HDD, and all the rest.

thats a great motherboard, id say your good to go. dont let people talk you into spending more than you need to(core i7). if you want AMD and then get it, with what you said you want to do that setup will work just fine, that motherboards also got the good southbridge which is good for overclocking on AMD especially the phenom 9950, ive got the phenom 9850 and you wont be dissapointed with that setup, also about the next gen the new phenoms(AM3 socket) are going to be backwards compatible to the AM2/AM2+ sockets
