[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="nerdsunite77"] Here's my 2 cents.........I live in Canada hey and building a rig wasnt an option cause i know nothing about the guts of a computer so this is what i did........Granted its barely even entry level pc gaming but i can play Team Fortress 2 online on hight settings and thats pretty damn cool......
I bought aHp 2.2 ghz Duo Core Computer from Future shop for 399.00
then i replaced the integrated video card with a Nivida Geforce 8600gt (xxx) from Tiger Direct.com 120.00 came with Company of Heroes which is a great RTS game.
I also added 2 gigs of ram for 50 dollars.
Finally, i added a 22 inch LG monitor from Future shop for 230.00.
Again, not the greatest rig but for the money i spent its able to play all the games out there(except Crysis, which i havent tried) and watching movies and general computer use is fantastic......and seriously, i was able to do the modifications myself with no problems at all.......snap in place, cant get much easier than that......

Ill be honest, this is problably the best option right here. You can buy a cheap-ass computer (with warranty) that has a nice procesor and decent motherboard, then all you really need are two key upgrades: video card and memory.
It would be an excellent way to familiarize yourself with the internal guts of a rig without going to the trouble of starting from scratch. And its inexpensive too! Plus those cheapo PCs usually come with nice massive hard drives and DVD burners. Not a bad place to build upon.
nice suggestion nerdsunite
Agreed, that's how I started out as well, although you do void the warranty.what about Dells?I thought they were cool with upgrades.
