Just finished putting together my new PC and Im having some issues. I have a q6600 G0 stepping running on a 790i Ultra with a Tuniq tower 120 and my bios is reading 46C on boot. I figured it could be misreading so I try to setup XP anyway and I am getting BSOD just after the drivers finish loading. Any ideas?

Make sure that you have correctly installed the heatsink and that it doesn't wobble around at all. Also make sure that you didn't use too much or too little thermal compound. The problem is most likely that the heatsink is not properly attached.

i thought so too but i cant seem to get the screws to tighten any further but they still feel a little loose

What heatsink are you using? Is it the stock one from Intel?

My amd 9750 is runing bout 45c sum 1 tould me that is ok so it shod be ok for aswell if they were right.

My quad CPU runs at 50c, a little hot but I think it's fine. I don't tend to overclock so for now I'll just pretend I did some overclocking on it.

Those temps aren't high, they're fine. Definitely shouldn't be the reason you're getting the BSOD.

ok I have remounted the HSF and now my temps are 35c which is about right however I am still getting BSOD. Here is full system specs.

Q6600
2GB XMS3 DDR3 1333
790i Ultra
7600GT (temp card)
1200W Thermaltake tough power

I have tried taking out one stick of ram but that made no difference.
