New PC poorly runs crysis even with good hardware?

After reading all the minimum and optimum requirements i can find for crysis, i really wonder why my new machine can only run Crysis smoothly on Mainstream setting which is second to last.

I have a 2.66 Quad Core Intel, 1.5GB of ram GT 230 and 8GB of DDR3 ram....none of the requirements i saw came anywhere near this, can't figure out why it is running so slow on gamer and enthusiast? Anyone have experience with this?

No sir, I am on a desktop, Acer Aspire M5800 to be exact, I figured 8GB of DDR3 would be more than enough for crysis....either way it was a huge upgrade from my last PC with .5GB of DDR ram,

that was 1.5gb of video ram, sry didn't make it clear.

your cpu which i believe is i7 and your ram are both very good but your graphics card is a entry level graphics card with not enough power to run crysis at the highest settings. from what i've looked up the gt230 is not even officially released yet! it seems one company got the right to use this unreleased gpu in there pc's it seems to be a re branded 9600gt.

to boost performance make sure you run in dx9 instead of dx10 you might be able to pull off high settings depending on resolution(or at least high shaders which has th biggest impact on the graphics) to run in dx9 go to the crysis shortcut on your desktop and right click go to properties and in the target add -dx9 to the end this will boost your performance with no visual sacrifice also make sure to patch crysis to 1.2 and to further increase performance install ccc 2.21 and install level 3 or 4.

here is ccc2.21 i use this one and its great i run lvl5 at 1920x1200 16xAF with pom disabled.

The issue would appear to be your graphics card. A GT230 is nothing to write home about, and may not be up to the task in Crysis.

the gt 230 is either a rebranded 9600gt or a rebranded 9600GSO i cant be certain since even nvidia doesnt have the specs up on their site. if its the 9600gt try running it at 720p there shouldnt be an issue for high/gamer but enthusiest youll run into issues try using the CCC mod lvl 4. or mixe medium high and very high for a playable but amazing visual experience

I've seen crysis use 1.8gig-2gigs+ of ram on on ultra high not includign your computer background processes and the gts230 is like a 9600gt which is not a very powerful gpu

ive never seen it use more than 1.5gb on max settings even during a long session. and he meant 1.5gb of vid ram not system. and the 9600gt isnt powerful but its far from weak

Try turning down your resolution and settings. Everything in your system is more than enough except for your GPU, which is barely acceptable for crysis.

Your card should be able to run at med-high settings on 1280x1050 res. make sure to turn off AA. Only have AA turned on if you have dual cards

If yes then thats why, they never have any good gaming pcs. The gt 230 is NOT GOOD AT ALL for gaming. Open up your case and look for a pci express x16. and buy a gtx 275 or the new dx 11 cards that are coming on sep 10.

?? a 9800gt can easily get 40-50fps on high at 1280x720 no AA. or 30 FPS with 2x AA on high.

the 9600gt which is the same as the gt230 cept the latter has a 40nm core can get 30fps on high at 720p no problem

no prebuilt pc is good for gaming. youll over pay usually and most offer poorer performance to a DIY. and 1.5gb is a lot. but your gpu doesnt have that much. it has i believe either 512mb or 1gb built in a shares with the system ram.

people saying it was low thought you meant system ram was 1.5gb
