Hey everybody as the title sais I just got a new PC after struggling for years with my old one, 4 years to be exact, not even gonna mention the specs because they were shameful considering today's standards.

Anyway here is my new rig:

M2N SLI-Deluxe n570

AMD 5600+ X2 64bit

4GB Corsair XMS2 DHX 4-4-4-12 DDR2 800mhz

9600 GT 512 DDR3 TOP (OC'ed 10%) X2 SLI

I was wondering if there are any games I forgot about in the past 4 years that are worth playing on my new rig. So far I got Mass Effect and Assassin Creed. Both new and awesome graphics wise. I should mention that I dislike FPS games, so Crysis, Prey or whatever FPS games were launched in the past 4 years do not interest me.

tl;dr Games worth playing from the past 4 years.

Well you don't like FPS, so I'll reccomend you some RTSs - Medieval 2 Total War and Company of Heroes.

portal, vampire: the masquerade - bloodlines, company of heroes, sins of a solar empire, galactic civilizations 2, titan quest, dawn of war, medieval 2, sam & max seasons 1 & 2, gtr2, race 07, grid. i'm sure there are tons of other games to get, but that's all i can think of.

Company of hereos and Dawn of War sound good RTS wise and from reviews here on GS, sins of a solar empire seems to have a shoddy campaign mode from what I understand though. Portal meh totally forgot about that, it ran on my old rig but crappy, gotta give that another spin. VTM Bloodlines again worth another spin since it was very choppy on my old rig. Which one of those racing games would be the most fun? Grid seems to be the coolest. Race 07? Don't think I have heard of this one.

sins of a solar empire doesn't have a campaign mode.

race 07 and gtr 2 are very similar; i'd recommend gtr 2 over race 07, just cuz the cars in gtr 2 are cooler.

race 07 and gtr 2 are race simulations; grid is an arcade racer. so it really depends on what type of racing game you like better. but, imo, even if you prefer arcade racers, gtr 2 is the best of the lot. oh, but grid is definitely the prettiest. and, i mean, it's VERY pretty.

check out this video review of grid: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6cV8llm5-Bs

Hmm, generally not the type to go for the eye candy but seeing as I would love to see how it runs on the new rig I will give Grid a shot, definetely looks like the pretties game in the racing genre, at least untill NFS Undercover comes out.

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth Anthology (BME I, BME II, Rise of the Witch King) if you want rts, or Civilization IV Chest if you want turn-based strategy. Also, Starcraft II, when it comes out.

@kieranb2000 Has Gothic 3 been fixed to a playable state via patches? From what I know this game was marred by a lot of bugs and technical issues.

@Guiltfeeder566 Might give Sins of a Solar Empire a shot, looks really nice and Homeworld'ish which I loved.

@chessmaster198 Not a fan of games after movies after books. I'm going for Dawn of War RTS wise while I wait for Starcraft 2.

@Maddie_Larkin Waiting for the enhanced version of Witcher to come out. Already finished Mass Effect, awesome RPG.

Yeah, just download the latest community patch (I believe the latest is 1.6), you can get it from Gamespot's page on the game.

I've still encountered a few glitches here and there, but it's less glitchy than a fully patched Oblivion at least :)

Ah yes communities fixing what the paid developers dont, hehe. Still that sais the game is good if the community did that, gonna give gothic 3 a spin then.
