ok, i just started playing planescape torment yesterday and its freaking amazing. basically i'm just looking for any tips or suggestions anyone might have for this sweet ass game.

also, does anyone know of any similar games for pc that dont require monster rigs to play them. (i have a fairly "standard" laptop, def not top-of-the-line.)

But yeah if anyone has any good tips/strategies or even some links to some not-well-known walkthroughs (not gamefaqs), i'd like a really good mage walkthrough, send em alnog, thanx.

be very thorough with dialogue options, they are well written, enchanting to read and reward you more than combat does.

most quests are more complicated and demand more exploring/experiementing than your standard RPG quests; so, be patient and look for clues, try your luck.

as for other games -- BG series, Fallout 1&2; Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura; Icewind dales are more combat oriented but still very good.

...we don't have this kind of quality CRPG anymore...

planescape is one of those awesome games that come along once a decade. It didnt sell that well, and has limited appeal, but for those that get it its one of the best games ever.

Higher Intelligence will give you more dialogue options and opportuninities with NPC's. Very usefull for Mage.

High Wisdom gives you more experience points when experience is given. Also, along with high Intelligence it will help recover memories.

High Charisma allows you to charm yourself out of some things, and really gives you opportunities in some important quests, where you wouldn't have with low Charisma.

Get this if you want something along similar lines:

Torment was an unexpectedly awesome game to me since I hated games like Baldur's gate 1&2, icewind dale, and dragon age.

There's also a high res. mod for the game that you can get here: Gibberlings 3. Even a modest increase (800x600) makes the game look much better on newer monitors. I wouldn't increase the resolution too high though or else the UI and some of the item nodes become a little unwieldy.

Unfortunately, (or not) games like PS:T, Fallout 1&2, Arcanum, etc., may ruin your enjoyment of the newer breed of not-really-RPGs that get released these days.

Click the first link in my sig, and check out the RPG section. :) You might as well accept right now though, that there are no RPGs like Torment. There are gmes that are similar, that are still decent, and enjoyable, but there will never be another RPG like that one.
