i am going to build a new pc after 22 of july i am going for q6600 striker extreme mother board and 2 gb DDRII ram with 8800gts 320 mb the problemĀ is that i want an lcd monitor and the ones i have available here within my reach support a resolution of 1280*1200 but all the reviews for these components are done on atleast 1600*1200 resolution i wanted to ask you that is my monitors resolution that bad and if i get that monitor and play games at the given resolution how long will my rig last

Unless you really care about high res, 1280x1200 should be plenty sharp. I don't know many people who care about playing games over 1024x768. The lower resolution won't ware out your components noticably faster. The greatest concerns if you are worried about wearing out your rig are the tempurature and overall wear from continuous use.

They key thing about resolution is that the higher your resolution, the more powerful your video card needs to be.Ā 

Hypothetical example: You might be able to play Crysis with max detail on a 8800GTS at 1280x1024, but need 2 in SLI to run at 1600x1200.

Thanks man and how long do you think my components will last i dont mind playing games on medium settings and at 1024*768 resolutionĀ what really bothers me is the upgrading of pc i want it to last very long like 3-5 years after that i will build a new oneĀ thanks in advance

From past experiences there isnt going to be a card out that will last u 3-5 years, buy then ull be playing games on low settings.Ā  I think u should get a 8800gts for about $300- and by the time thats obsolet, just upgrade again in about 2 years.
