Just finished building my new rig today, completely from ground up. Got everything connected, followed diections properly (actually used the guide on here to make sure no steps were left out). I finish everything up, connect the power and HDMI cable and it powers up, but I am getting no video output to my HDTV (42" 1080 LG HDTV). I checked around a couple times to make sure all the plugs are connected but to no avail, it still gives me no video. I tried playing around with the RAM and switching slots and so forth, nothing. Everything seems to be getting power, case fans, GPU and CPU fans are getting power. I can hear the hard drive and the blu ray drive works (ejects). Power wise, I am good.

My next option was to go to best buy and grab a VGA cable to see if that would work, but if I end up still not getting any video, and ideas what the prob might be?

If it was a RAM error, normally the system would beep. Unfortunatly it sounds like either a dead graphics card or dead motherboard. Have you tried connecting to the onboard video card ? if that works then the graphics card is the culprit.

His mobo doesn't have onboard video...

Its most likely not the RAM, but if he hasn't tried the sticks individualy, he cant be 100% sure.

I assume you did this, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Did you connect the extra two 6-pin power cords to your 6870?

Yes, I even switched slots using each of them individually. Still no luck.

UPDATE: A week later and I still have nothing.

I manage to borrow a GTX 460 from a friend, and still I am getting no VIDEO!!!! WTF! I even tried both HDMI and VGA connections on both cards and nothing. I tried reconnecting and connecting everything again and no luck.

Could someone please tell me what I should do next? I have spent a crap ton of money to just to have to watch this computer sit on my desk for days and days on and on with it not working.

(Also, to clarify, everything is getting power.)

If you're not getting video with any video card, then I would recommend RMA'ing the motherboard...

This. Even if your mobo is supplying power to the parts, this doesn't mean the mobo is actually ok. Try returning the mobo.

You aren't hooking it up through a home theater receiver are you? Make sure your LG is set to Just Scan and not 16:9 or it won't display right (Or at all sometimes.)

Are you plugging your TV into your Motherboard or your Graphics Card? If it's in your Mobo then swap to the Graphics Card and that should fix the problem.

try using a pc monitor Also to me seems like a mobo problem. I had similar problems with my old mobo. At times when i restart or powering Pc i would not get a video signal and i had to shut down pc and waith a couple minutes and power again Also if you can use another pc try the VGA on that pc to make sure its working Also try using only one stick of ram and only 1 hard drive and remove any unnecessary components if you have like tv tuners

That was my first thought, but he mentioned that he tried both plugs on both cards later in the thread...
