I just ordered a new PC and need suggestions for games. I own a PS3 and 360 so I anything that is on either of those systems I wont bother with. This is my first PC and I need some suggestions on games preferably FPS's or thrird-person shooters. I already picked up Crysis, Company of Heroes, Death to Spies, and Hellgate. Im thinking of returning Hellgate though and getting STALKER (the reviews and opinions from friends of Hellgate havent been great). I also dont want any games with monthly fees like WoW.

yes get stalker instead.. I also know this is older but Consider Battlefield 2 (only $10) and BF 2142. You can also try Elder Scrolls Oblivion and The Witcher (they're not FPS but still fun) And you have to get CoD 4 you probably have it for xbox but it's just a great game.. And a must is the Orange Box (5 games in one)

I actually have a copy of Battlefield 2 laying around somewhere which I got for free from EB Games so I mine as well give it a try. I already have Oblivion, COD 4, and Orange Box but I do agree that they are great games. I was looking into the Witcher though. It looks interesting but the combat is what has me on the fence. Was never a fan of turn-based/WoW/KotoR style play. Thats why I think Mass Effect was so awesome. Took the strengths of those games and added real-time combat. Im also looking for anything that is a good graphical showcase (other than Crysis of course).

STALKER comes highly reccomended, try The Witcher demo, I also hate turn-based but luckily this game has none of it.

Well considering oblivion w/out mods is crap imo I'd get that for PC. There is also the orange box, world in conflict, supreme commander, medievil 2:total war(great game), Bioshock, CoD4. Never played STALKER but i've heard good things and some bad(like bugs).

CSS ftw!!!-San-

If you want a game that is extremely challenging against good players, then get CS:S. Awesome game. But just be aware that your death will probably be accompanied by teabagging and random things like "OMG n00b u suXX0rz hahaha"

its like that for all begginers, but once your better and understand the value of headshots youll be able to call others noobs. it also helps with any fps you play afterwards. ive also noticed that in games like CoD4, and halo.

Hahaha of course! I'm just warning him that there are some growing pains involved when it comes to CS:S :P

I'd highly recommend STALKER, The Witcher, or Crysis. There are a bunch of older games that are great as well.

If you want some good games to show the graphical power of pc then try these...

Medieval 2: Total War. If you can max this games with full aa and af the battles look unbelievable.

World in Conflict : Great game, especially online, great graphics.

Oblivion with mods : Forget console oblivion. Many mods transform both the graphics and gameplay to an almost next gen level on pc. O,O,O mod, natural environments mod and quarls texture pack to name just 3 big mods.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: amazing atmosphere, very very challenging game and lots of nice mods. Although the graphics aren't imediately impressive, you will begin to see just how good they are the more you play.

I would also advise you in future to read reviews of multiplats before buying. If you are in the position of being able to buy any version you will find pc usually offers the best experience. CoD4 as an example, GeoW another. Mods add so much to pc games. In many games you can completey transform the game to the point its almost a complete new experience.

You like third person games aye? I think you should get the Max Payne games even though they are fairly old now!! Thief: Deadly Shadows as well. Oh have you got Call of Duty: Hotel Paranoia yet? If you don't just ask me more about it. Hit me back.

Yes, you should get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It was a great game if you put aside the technical issues.

Anyway, here's a few:

Oblivion (With expansions)

Morrowind (Sort of old but it's still fun!)

Warcraft 3 (Also old but fun)

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos (Didn't get that great of a review but I really enjoyed it)

YakeenX

i have mark of chaos installed on my pc but have never played it. My son plays it though. I may have to give it a go.
