"Desktop Replacement." I'm sure it will play ALL of those games on maxed except maybe fallout/crysis. I don't know if you were going for mobile gaming, but 11-13lbs isn't fun to carry around (probably gona be the 13lbs since you had everything on it).

Yeah, As long as you're not a college student lugging it from class to class. It should be fine if you don't move often.

You should easily max any Unreal 3 engine game (cod4, ut3, etc.). Crysis will probably run high with some veryhigh. Medium looks fine.

Do not get the AEGIA physics card. There are a tiny amount of games that support it. Waste of money if you ask me. You only need to focus on SLI graphics, fast processor, and awesome RAM. Blu-ray is also good if you want to watch movies.

I love Dells (have 3) but for that price you could have 8800GTX SLI in a Sager. I still don't know why they are hawking 8700's in their flagship laptop. Oh well.

This thing is useless as a laptop. It will be too big to fit in any backpack and the battery life MIGHT be 45 minutes. Why not just buy two gaming desktops (one for work and one for home) and save $600.

Gaming laptops are not meant to be ULTRA portable or good on batteries. They are meant to be MORE portable than desktops as that is what they are replacing. I have both. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The TC is obviously more interested in the advantages.

I suppose...I guess I don't understand the market for a desktop replacement laptop. You spend so much for good, but sub-desktop performance in exchange for very limited portability.

I understand where you are coming from. I recently got a current gen rig because of the advancements over laptops. They just haven't caught up. The mobile 8800GTX only has 96 SP's. ONLY 96!!!!

Laptops are more for your casual gamers...I don't know anybody that plays Crysis on a laptop (no matter how capable some of them may be). But I will play games like The Sims 2/3, Sim City 4, MMORPG's, StarCraft II and some classic favorites on a laptop all day long. Hardware crushing games are better left off of laptops IMHO...

Why is Crysis the benchmark of playability? Also, Sims 3 and Starcraft II aren't even out yet, so how can you play them? When SC2 does release it will be pretty demanding to max. Maybe not "Crysis" demanding though... ;)

I'm saying that those games are usually laptop friendly. Blizzard is known for scaling down the graphics in exchange for performance, that is why I included SC2 in that little list...

lol Also, I didn't make Crysis the cornerstone of performance, the 2,000+ threads a day asking if their rig will play Crysis on Very High did.

My bad, I didn't read through all of the specs. Dell didn't offer the 8800GTXm SLI option until just recently. The mobile cards are seriously gimped though. Not at all worth the premium. To think that they reduced the SP count from 128 to 96 is just rediculous.

It's not Dell, it's Nvidia (the card maker). They evidently couldn't get adequate cooling with specs similar to a desktop 8800GTX so they gimped the mobile cards down to around the specs of a 8800GTS 640MB. They are still the best laptop offering, but D@MN! My laptop has a GeForce Go 7900GTX. It is basically an underclocked desktop version. The 8800m GTX is a much more limited version of its equivalent.

The computer I'm typing this on is a Dell XPS, cost me $3,000 3 years ago. Useless for gaming now.

That is why spending nearly $4,000 on a computer is not worth the time.

The computer I'm typing this on is a Dell XPS, cost me $3,000 3 years ago. Useless for gaming now.

That is why spending nearly $4,000 on a computer is not worth the time.

you can say that about any comp....but i realize you pay more for moblity, not an issue to me,i do thank all you guys for the feed back, keep it coming!!
