i opened up my motherboard and after a failed attempt of trying to install the cpu (latch wouldnt close) i realized a few pins where bent. I sent it back to newegg for a refund so i can buy a new mobo...does anyone know if i have a good chance of getting this rma approved?

They'll accept almost anything, even if it isn't messed up.

Just be honest with them and you will be fine. I had a CPU either come with a missing pin, or lose a pin during installation. I told them what happened, they did an RMA and sent me a new one, no problem. Their customer service is top notch.

Once you build your first PC, the rest should be easy.

I have a friend who somehow managed to short his HD 4870, he had bought it for $270 at the time. He RMAd it against my advice (I told him not too, it was his own damn fault for screwing around in his case with the machine on). Well they no longer had that exact model anymore so they told him to choose another card that was around $270. Well between the time he bought it and the time he RMAd new and glorious things were priced at $270 so he ended up getting an HD 4850x2 out of the deal. Not a bad trade for being an idiot.

Newegg does stuff like that all the time, he got a deal :) BTW, why wouldn't you want him to rma it? If it's dead regardless of who's fault it is, I'd try to RMA it and get away with it.

Yeah it's dead, butI wouldn't want to have to give someone a $270 credit on account of them being a dumb***. EDIT: I guess it's just the manner in which he broke it, if it had been something truly unexpected I wouldn't have cared, but here he was just asking to break something.

He probably was being ignorant/dumb, but I'd still try to get away with it :P

IMO though it kind of reinforces the idea,"It'sokay, I can return something even if I broke it because it was my OWN fault."
