Well if your browsing with Chrome the page should automatically give you the non-ie version. Why is there no Chrome download?

Justinstalledit... new youtube vids run like crap for me ( firefox and chrome ) any idea about the gpu Acceleraion and if it run by default and how to disable it ?
I get a "wrong architecture i386" error when I try and install it. Have they released it for 64-bit ubuntu yet?

I guess they haven't. I had to use nspluginwrapper to get 10.1 running. Never should have switched to 64-bit
[QUOTE="gameguy6700"]Why would I need/want GPU acceleration for flash? I can't think of a single flash application that even the crappiest computer can't run flawlessly.Makarinot so much better performance overall as it is equal performance with much less load on the CPU! Yeah but since when is a CPU taxed while using a web browser? Furthermore, even if your CPU can actually get taxed during normal computer usage, it's highly unlikely that such a computer would have a discrete GPU in it.

I believe it was the NM10?
Not like it really matters they still aren't gpu accelerated for Linux...I get a "wrong architecture i386" error when I try and install it. Have they released it for 64-bit ubuntu yet?

Yeah. I realized that later. I loathe Adobe, lol
Still, I had problems with youtube before and they seem to be gone for now.
Why would I need/want GPU acceleration for flash? I can't think of a single flash application that even the crappiest computer can't run flawlessly.gameguy6700Well on systems with a weak CPU (Atom) they need GPU acceleration in order to play youtube videos and such....in which case Flash 10.1 is ESSENTIAL. For the likes of you and me its just a bonus as our CPU's can already handle it :)

Has anyone seen real difference over the previous version?wklzipFlash 10.1 vs Flash 10? Heck yeah, it's much better on Windows. Mac too.
HTML5 vs Flash 10 ------ Round 1......FIGHT9mmSpliffFlash isn't going anywhere anytime soon. HTML 5.0 with javascript is still slower and as far as video playback is concerned the quality isn't as good. In fact video playback in Flash at 480p looks superior to video playback in HTML 5.0 running at 720p :? Also, both consume roughly the same amount of memory and CPU power so there isno new advantage with HTML 5.0 there....
The only good thing about HTML 5.0 is that you don't need to install a plug-in (Flash)to get a decent Internet experience as far as media goes. However Flash comes pre-installed in most computers anyway so that point is kind of mute.HTML 5.0 is a good step forward, but as far as delivering the richest and most dynamic internet applications go HTML 5.0 will not beat Flash.

When it's done, it'll still be a step behind flash. :/ You think Adobe is sitting idle?
Actually I just read up a large paper here VP8 sucks http://x264dev.multimedia.cx/?p=377 lol Oh well at least there is H.264
H.264 still needs a player, it's just a video codec. The Flash player on the other hand is a complete multimedia runtime that can play back H.264, among other codecs. Some people may not like it, but Flash is staying and it's going to stay number 1 for a long time... I'm really interested in their multi-touch feature set which should be included in Flash 10.1Actually I just read up a large paper here VP8 sucks lol Oh well at least there is H.264

And OGV files have awful compression... Well at least it isn't buggy.[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]

I do like open standards, but after reading how VP8 kind of sucks, meh.

But I feel Flash overall is the best at what it does and will remain the leader in rich internet applications. (I'm sure Apple hates this truth :P )[QUOTE="karasill"]

I'm pretty sure the spec isn't on track to be 'done' until 2020 or something, isn't it? They did say that they were hoping to have it in a more or less feature-complete state by the end of 2010, though I think more realistically it'll be more like 2012 or so.[QUOTE="karasill"][QUOTE="9mmSpliff"]HTML5 vs Flash 10 ------ Round 1......FIGHTJigglyWiggly_
