I had been looking forward to this title; guess I will skipping it.

You guys didn't know that Ubisoft's new DRM was going to be applied to all of their upcoming PC games?

So I have to be online at ALL times while the game is running?? That's just some BS. I might as well not even own a physical copy of the game = \

I don't think it will bother me. What bothers me is that Ubisoft is charging 60$ for Assassins Creed 2 and maybe for conviction as well.

Buggy internet? Restrictive internet time? No internet at all? (highly unlikely, but possible)

So what if my internet cuts out one stormy evening I get kicked out of my game and accused of being a terrorist? I'm pretty sure pirates need an internet connection to pirate the game in the first place. Morons. I'm going to wait until some kind of crack is developed and then buy it because there's no way I'm going to stand for this nonsense.

The problem isn't technical. It's more of a principle sort of thing.

Honestly, I prefer SecuROM to this sort of DRM. At least with SecuROM you can still play when the Internet goes out.

Any DRM that requires you to be online to play it is utter bull. If the power goes out, or I'm somewhere without internet, or if someone has dial up, they can't play the game? That is ridiculous. Ubisoft are idiots. The game will be cracked within a week of being released no matter how invasive they make the DRM. They're just hurting legit customers.

This is a reason why I love Stardock. Sins is an amazing game with NO DRM and so it deserves my money. Not the crap that Ubisoft pushes out.

Man, you guys really love throwing away money and letting the man stick it to you. Funny thing is, if you loose connection to the internet your game drops to the Homescreen without even having the ability to save your progress. I don't know about you but my connection isn't 100% reliable.... It pisses me off that they are doing this because it treats paying customers like thieves. The ones coming out smelling and the roses are people pirating the game. I think gaming companies should have basic DRM that keeps the "honest people honest" without going overboard.

Cus that kind of screws those of us in the military who are goin on deployments ...

Yep you need internet every second of the game, if you get disconnected in the middle of the game you might lose quite a lot of your game progress if it's checkpoint based (like AC 2) and if the Ubisoft network has any problems you won't be able to play your game(s) they can also stop the service whenever they feel like it.

Welcome to AC II and SC MMO If Ubisoft is trying to push PC gamers to consoles it sure it isn't going to work with me. There are alot and alot of other PC games this year which look much more interesting. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Mar 2, 2010 Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Mar 16, 2010 METRO 2033 Mar 16, 2010 Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight Mar 16, 2010 Just Cause 2 Mar 23, 2010 Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Mar 30, 2010 Lost planet 2 May 18,2010 Dead Rising 2 Aug 31, 2010 Singularity , Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty Q2 2010 Max Payne 3 , Deus Ex 3 , Brink , Medal of Honor Q3 2010 Fallout: New Vegas , Crysis 2 Q4 2010 Thief 4 TBA And alot and lot of other games :D

Pretty interesting because I would think they would wait to see how well AC2 sells using this new DRM before deciding to use it on all their games (unless some other game has already used it). I like Ubisoft, but I am staying as far away as possible when it comes to their PC versions of games. I already have enough problems with SecuRom and my internet isn't all that awesome.

I'm not getting any of their games that use this stupid DRM scheme, and the PC version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent was broken anyway, so they can doubly kiss my ass. This whole thing is a load of bull. If I buy cheap games on Steam that is different because, first of all, I opted into buying the game that way, and second of all it only checks the connection at start-up. (Also there is an offline mode, although I don't like the way it's implemented in that you have to plan for it ahead of time.) I'm not going to start having all of my gaming dictated by my internet connection and the availability of remote servers just so they can theoretically delay the people who apparently have nothing better to do with their computer skills than sitting around figuring out how to crack other people's ill-conceived DRM schemes. Until they stop this crap, they won't be getting another dime from me. I guess they figure that they are going to get enough would-be pirates to buy the game to offset all of the legitimate customers that are going to avoid their games. That seems rather unlikely to me, but I'm not a corporate statistician, so what do I know? I'm sure there will be a lot of unfortunate uninformed people who will buy some of these sequels to their favorite games without having any idea what they are getting into.

Ubi won't be getting anymore of my money as long as they practice this terrorism towards PC games/gamers. They won't change anything by using this hoping to combat the "you know who's"

Pity, I was actually thinking of getting the game but since my Network Connection is as unstable as a drunken blind man balancing on a ball then I guess I'll just have to refrain from getting it.

Wow. It looks like Ubi is actually trying to make us bend over for them. This might stop day 0 and day 1 piracy, but if they don't revoke this within a week of release I won't be getting any of those games, and if I do, I'll have to find a way around this draconian DRM.

I love Splinter Cell too much to skip this game, I'm gonna get it because my connection is rather stable. In any case, I'll be the guinea pig for the game. I'm also getting AC2. Yea yea, I know, call me a tool of Ubisoft but to be honest, I'm just tired to complaining about every little thing. I just want to enjoy my games.

[QUOTE="jjj13"]I dont get the big deal about DRM. Aren't you always online while playing anyways? chandu83
But you shouldn't have to be. That's the big problem.

Who sayz you shouldnt?WHO??...it is written in the Bible?or its an universal law or something?

Who sayz you shouldnt have to be online all the time to play a game?YOUR MOTHER?MINE?G. BUSH's MOTHER?THE MONKS FROM TIBET?

If games(single player) in the past were playable without internet connection that dosent mean it is a supreme RULE and this is the way is going to be as long as game industry exists...

If you dont like it dont buy the game...developers and publishers dosent owe you or me nothing...NOTHING...its simple: You dont like it ,you dony buy it!

And stop with this bs "we are the ones who are scrwed over and anyways the pirates will have the game craked without this draconic DRM bla bla"...PC game market is a dead market(with a few exception and ofc not counting MMO's) so its only logical for developers to come with measures like this...

Lets say Ubisoft would implement for AC2 only SecuROM instead of this DRM...and then what? You and all the other legit costumers will be happy...and you guys will buy the game...but that wouldnt be enough for them to make profit!!!They still lose money...so its only logical to try and implement this "draconic" DRM even if in the worst case scenario they will lose all of the costumers on pc market...they lose money anyway, with or without this new DRM...

I will probably end up buying it as I am a big Splinter Cell fan and I really want to play Conviction after seeing the trailers. And I will find some way around this draconian DRM one way or another. Still buying but I will make sure that I won't be hindered with the constant-online connection requirement ;)

Yep. Hopefully for them it doesn't get cracked and people actually buy their games, realistically, after it gets cracked hopefully they'll rethink this joke, this stupidity and aggression towards the PC gamers, and they'll change the system even if it's just the part with internet.

You can't act like this is going to help their sales... This DRM thing is not stopping anyone from pirating the game. If you put more than a neuron of brain power into it you'll probably be able to download a cracked exe file from some site. If they were planning on pirating the game, they will do so unless they drop this stupid **** anti-piracy crusade and lower the price. Unless of course the DRM they developed is uncrackable, in which case I doubt anyone is going to buy the game. I'm a huge Splinter Cell fan and have bought all the games and I'm hoping this one will be a part of my collection, but come on. Who says I have to have an internet connection to play a single player game? That's just stupid.

Good luck with that, Ubi.
