But does it surprise you?
Other confirmed DRM games:
The Settlers 7
Silent Hunter 5
Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
Ghost Recon

I had been looking forward to this title; guess I will skipping it.
You guys didn't know that Ubisoft's new DRM was going to be applied to all of their upcoming PC games?
I don't think it will bother me. What bothers me is that Ubisoft is charging 60$ for Assassins Creed 2 and maybe for conviction as well.
So whats wrong with that?
I actually like the new DRM...hmmm...maybe not "like" like but it dosent bothers me...i dont see where is the problem or the inconvenience....

Buggy internet? Restrictive internet time? No internet at all? (highly unlikely, but possible)
So what if my internet cuts out one stormy evening I get kicked out of my game and accused of being a terrorist? I'm pretty sure pirates need an internet connection to pirate the game in the first place. Morons. I'm going to wait until some kind of crack is developed and then buy it because there's no way I'm going to stand for this nonsense.
The problem isn't technical. It's more of a principle sort of thing.
Honestly, I prefer SecuROM to this sort of DRM. At least with SecuROM you can still play when the Internet goes out.
Any DRM that requires you to be online to play it is utter bull. If the power goes out, or I'm somewhere without internet, or if someone has dial up, they can't play the game? That is ridiculous. Ubisoft are idiots. The game will be cracked within a week of being released no matter how invasive they make the DRM. They're just hurting legit customers.
This is a reason why I love Stardock. Sins is an amazing game with NO DRM and so it deserves my money. Not the crap that Ubisoft pushes out.
So I know I'm late to the party, but what this means is that if you don't have internet, you can' tplay this game? Not even the Single Player?
Cus that kind of screws those of us in the military who are goin on deployments ...
Yep you need internet every second of the game, if you get disconnected in the middle of the game you might lose quite a lot of your game progress if it's checkpoint based (like AC 2) and if the Ubisoft network has any problems you won't be able to play your game(s) they can also stop the service whenever they feel like it.So I know I'm late to the party, but what this means is that if you don't have internet, you can' tplay this game? Not even the Single Player?

They did say they will use that system for every game, I haven't really searched for info on this but I guess DoD Venice also uses this DRM :( I wanted to get the gold edition after they release Venice but...DanielDustanno : venice will use tages i think. AC 2 is going to be the first game with this new drm afaik

wow that really sucks no so much for splinter cell but the core pc exclusive titles settler 7 and silent hunter V are gonna have it as well... this is worse then the starforce drm.
Wow. It looks like Ubi is actually trying to make us bend over for them. This might stop day 0 and day 1 piracy, but if they don't revoke this within a week of release I won't be getting any of those games, and if I do, I'll have to find a way around this draconian DRM.
Hey look, another game I'm not buying! They keep this up and I'll be only buying indie games in no time which thankfully avoid that draconian DRM.
Unfortunately I like Splinter Cell way too much to skip this game. I might get it on the 360 instead, but time will tell.
[QUOTE="jjj13"]I dont get the big deal about DRM. Aren't you always online while playing anyways? chandu83But you shouldn't have to be. That's the big problem.
Who sayz you shouldnt?WHO??...it is written in the Bible?or its an universal law or something?
Who sayz you shouldnt have to be online all the time to play a game?YOUR MOTHER?MINE?G. BUSH's MOTHER?THE MONKS FROM TIBET?
If games(single player) in the past were playable without internet connection that dosent mean it is a supreme RULE and this is the way is going to be as long as game industry exists...
If you dont like it dont buy the game...developers and publishers dosent owe you or me nothing...NOTHING...its simple: You dont like it ,you dony buy it!
And stop with this bs "we are the ones who are scrwed over and anyways the pirates will have the game craked without this draconic DRM bla bla"...PC game market is a dead market(with a few exception and ofc not counting MMO's) so its only logical for developers to come with measures like this...
Lets say Ubisoft would implement for AC2 only SecuROM instead of this DRM...and then what? You and all the other legit costumers will be happy...and you guys will buy the game...but that wouldnt be enough for them to make profit!!!They still lose money...so its only logical to try and implement this "draconic" DRM even if in the worst case scenario they will lose all of the costumers on pc market...they lose money anyway, with or without this new DRM...
Yep. Hopefully for them it doesn't get cracked and people actually buy their games, realistically, after it gets cracked hopefully they'll rethink this joke, this stupidity and aggression towards the PC gamers, and they'll change the system even if it's just the part with internet. So if you dont have internet or the UBI servers go down so you cant log in. You just can't play at all?

Well, since my connection is very stable I won't avoid playing the new addition to one of my favorite franchises.

You can't act like this is going to help their sales... This DRM thing is not stopping anyone from pirating the game. If you put more than a neuron of brain power into it you'll probably be able to download a cracked exe file from some site. If they were planning on pirating the game, they will do so unless they drop this stupid **** anti-piracy crusade and lower the price. Unless of course the DRM they developed is uncrackable, in which case I doubt anyone is going to buy the game. I'm a huge Splinter Cell fan and have bought all the games and I'm hoping this one will be a part of my collection, but come on. Who says I have to have an internet connection to play a single player game? That's just stupid.
