the next xbox by microsoft ahs had its video and processing power laid out.

it will truly amaze you with what i have to say:

core i3.. hd 5570

chew on that for a second.

the next xbox will use a fusion II apu from the lower end of the spectrum which will rpobably compete modestly with the mid range apu's of zacate or llano

im talking higher end dual core + dx10.1 mid range gpu power.

this posts huge ramifications if thats accurate, and i wait expectantly on sony's counter or for that matter.. nintendo's.

odds are though this fusion II apu will be a 4 core.. perhaps similar in caliber to a phenom x4 (am2+)

so im thinking more or less equal to phenom I x4 2.9ghz + hd 4670 level of preformance

snap, crackle, and pop.. forgot source:

http://www.kitguru.net/software/gaming/jules/microsoft-chooses-amd-fusion-ii-for-xbox-720/

btw this fusion apu uses the codename "krishna" and is a 28nm fabrication

also this apu might not even use direct x at all.. starting with their next OS microsoft is using a enw system called "terascale" which is far more user firendly than direct X and without its limitations of being based on really old software thats simply been aptched over and over infinitely

so having one that matches a 4670 and has a 4 core isnt out of the question.. especially when the xb360 has an IBM tri core (equivalent to a phenom I x3) and an x1900/7800gt equivalent chispet

what? I expected the next set of consoles(out by 2012)to be quad core, use 2gb of memory and use gpu power close to geforce 8/9 performance level. Do you have any proof of what you say? because if its partly true then the next consoles will be a slight step up and would be nice laugh.

that article speculates a release in 2012. also, a lot of pc games run at higher resolutions than the console versions.....so the pc version is more demanding.

Whoops, 2012 is what I meant :) Gonna go correct that. If my rig manages to max out games, till 2014 I'll be impressed.

if you consider the new high end GPUs that will come out for pc between now and 2012 pc will still easily be generations ahead, isn't the 5570 a low end card?

Chew on this for a moment guys. If a new graphics API is being developed (finally!) to replace directX then it is perfectly within reason to imagine that you'd be able to do more with less. I.e. while the hardware may not seem impressive the API will be and it will likely allow lesser hardware to perform greater than we imagine. Microsoft knows they are not Nintendo; remaining competitive with lesser hardware. They know they have to keep a graphical/performance edge. This will lower their cost of production and help prevent hardware failure (rrod) all while producing the next gen experience we've come to expect with new hardware. Before anyone asks, no, this does not mean your 3 year old rig will remain viable and/or improve with future games. Current hardware is designed with the directX API in mind. New hardware designed for the new API would LIKELY be needed. I say likely because we don't know for sure, but it is a logical assumption. This could result in future hardware that isn't so danged demanding with power requirements and cooling. The idea of going backwards to progress forwards excites me. New API ftw.
