Really starting to love this Kickstarter thing.

Nexus 2, sequel to one of my favorite strategy games ever just got a kickstarter. They set up a steep goal for what it is unfortunatly so not positive it'll make it. But I've been hoping for a sequel since the original so wishing them luck and spreading the word. :)

Finally. This was the game that came to my mind when I first heard about the success of kickstarted as a means of funding games. I hope they can reach their goal.

Backed for $100

Really starting to love this Kickstarter thing.

Starting to get hard for me to say that after backing over $1000 in just video game related projects. Give me a couple months off already.

I usually don't like to pre-pay for a game unless it's something that is bound to blow my mind.

I only back projects made by people I trust or that I've been wanting to see happen for years (which usually goes hand in hand).

I still have to check out the first Nexus (I already have in on GoG). If I like it I support this campaign as well.

There is seriously no other game like it. The combat was amazing. I loved being able to target specific systems and being able to disable a ship mid flight. There was physics and everything. They even had volumetric explosions. I couldnt believe it when I first played. Not to mention amazing models.

Why not just put in a pre-order of $20 dollars? You gain nothing by putting in $15.

Shame, but if nothing major happens (multiple extremely popular websites talking about it), it doesn't look like it'll come even close of what they need.

Agreed. 650k is a bit high for this project I guess. I still hope that the campaign picks up momentum.

They need massive publicity. I know that most things that make an appearence on N4g.com make it to their kickstarter. Not that thats the only determining factor.

if it fails, do you get your money back (from kickstarter, I mean)?

If they fail to meet the goal you get your money back. If they meet the goal and then something happens and they never complete the project you do not get anything back.

From what I understand, the game only gets funded if the goal is reached in the determined time limit. If it doesn't, no money gets taken from the supporters. After it gets funded however, it's outside of kickstarter's realm of responsibilities...

600K isn't much for a great project, but Nexus was niche, pretty much unknown even if unique and extremely good, the video isn't really helping its popularity, I'm a fan, but if I wouldn't know much about the game, I'd close the window/tab after 20 seconds into that presentation, it is too forced, fake. Nexus is like System Shock 2 minus all the hipsters that never played it once in their life (which is almost everyone mentioning it on the internet, if it were actually that popular it probably would have awards for the most sales of a PC game ever).

Hi everyone to back this up ill post a little review for the original aand from what weve seen of the tech etc. I think it will be a good investment for a future game which if funded will be released next year sometime. For those of you who havent heard of Nexus: The Jupiter Incident or its potential sequel Nexus: The Gods Awaken before this post should explain. the original game made in 2004 was visually fantastic, the gameplay was unique, there truly wasnt anything else around that matched it and above all else it was fun to play over and over again. i mean see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyJjzQkT1Xo this is a multiplayer video for the game, it shows off the interface, the game allowed you as much or as little control as you liked, you could use predetermand settings against ships or the interface allowed you to micro manage individual weapon systems as shown in the video, you can set each ships power settings diverting power to shields, weapons or engines. you can prioritise individual weapons on your ships, dont like using lasers, dont use them go for nukes energy torps ect, the higher damage weapons usually had a cost they where either slow to rechage, inaccurate or used ammo like the missles or you could use alot of low damage but fast firing stuff, it really gave you choices to your place style. if you would like to try the game yourself it is for sale on GOG right now for a very reasonable price: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/nexus_the_jupiter_incident Now Nexus 2, it is on Kickstarter right now, it needs $650,000 in order to be made. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mostwanted/nexus-2-the-gods-awaken it has come close to being developed in the past but sadly it didnt make the goal which was on gamesplant, that was much higher also (900,000 euros). The developer video is quite humerous and worth a watch, however there is a tech demo which was released (see link) which shows what Nexus 2 would look like if they developed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmpkJNi0uwM yes thats right, 2005, it was made in 2005, we got our hopes up but nothing came to be as no publishers are touching strategy games that arent a dead cert. it is 2012 now, think what they could do, improve on, you dont need to use your imagination much, gfx and gameplay like this dont come around often and for once this will be in the hands of the developers NOT the publishers which gives them a unique opportunity of making a game to their vision. now i ask you, please take some time and check out this game and help us bring it to the community for the good of all strategy games in the future not just Nexus, if this succeeds other similar games may be able to obtain funding for official sources and not rely on crowd funding. I hope you join me in supporting them on this project. If you want to know i backed this project for $1,000, im not ashamed of that, im proud to be part of a game that ment so much to me

At least we have the great mods for Nexus to keep it breathing, we have mods for Star Wars, Babylon 5, Star trek and others. Imagine what could be done with Nexus 2 if it were released. System Shock 2's problem is with EA they hold the IP, and so far they have done nothing with, it's just sitting there, and whenever someone tries to do a remake mod, the kill it quickly with a cease and desist order. Bunch of pricks if you ask me.

I was under the impression that EA only has part ownership of the System Shock 2 IP. I heard somewhere that some other company partly owns the right to System Shock 2 and that was the reason it was not on GoG with the other EA titles.

Give it up, looks like this one isn't going to make it, which is sad. I think it picked a bad time and got overshadowed by Obsidian's kickstarter, which is a shame.
