I get this in my inbox today:
"Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy"

and when I try to login to my Battle.net to get an email, I get this:

"Please activate the Battle.net Authenticator product attached to this account, and enter the six-digit digital code that it generates."

So apparently I've been hacked. I've been broke with school recently so I haven't play WoW in 4 months, yet somehow, I abused the economy in the game. And then I can't call Blizzard because their phone lines just disconnect after saying "Sorry, we're busy.". So I'm out of luck. Hoping my email fixes my ban (I doubt it) and this hacked issue (more likely). If they don't fix both issues, I guess I'll do without on SC2, WOW, and D3 in the future.

Anyone else had this happen before and what's the experience like?

Not their fault I was hacked. Their fault that they can't talk to me about it. There's no excuse for a company this big to tell me "Sorry, we're busy. Bye!" on the phone.

I don't think it's Blizzard saying that...that's technology. They are probably overloaded with phone calls at the moment...it happens. Patience is a valuable commodity in today's digital age :D

Yeah, I know but it's pretty upsetting when you have a lot of money just kind of sitting in limbo, and CC info sitting there.

I think it would help if one of the security questions I had to pick on their forum wasn't "What type of CC did you use?". Let's see... MC or Visa? You have a 50/50 chance of hacking someone if you know some other info..

I get that you are pissed, my account got hacked and it was like 2-3 years AFTER I stopped playing...how the hell did that happen? I fixed my issue through email, if that gives you any hope. Took about a day or so though so try not to get really mad yet...they will help you.

That is a big relief. I wish people that hacked were somehow tracked down and then thrown in prison. Hell, for life! If we had strict punishments, people would quit risking it. I'm sure all my junk will be broken...

Hackers are people who have such a sad life that they have to hack other people's accounts for no reason. Sorry to hear that.

It's a blessing in disguise. WoW is a virus on the gaming world and humanity as a whole. Be glad fate intervened and removed it from your life.

I was hacked, got my account back that night, and then they gave me a ton of gold and some cool items and then got all my other stuff back 2 days later, just have to call them.

I can't agree with you more. I just recently quit and returned to traditional gaming only to find that I sucked. World of Warcraft (and the mmo genre in general right now) is significantly more about time investment, than it is about skill. Really, WoW is only a glorified form of menial labor. Get a set of instructions detailing exact rotations and gearing, and then sit and press your buttons in the right order to watch the gear pinata burst open. Actual problem solving and strategy is nonexistent unless you are at the forefront of theorycrafting which requires another massive time investment.

I stopped playing wow about 9 months back, my life has become a lot better.

Now I only play games I can fit around my scheduel. Like FPS, RTS, and Offline games. I am done with MMO's, where I must work this other people's scheduels to properly enjoy.

Nail on the head. I still have the craving to go back to wow, but I keep reminding myself it was nothing but a second job.

Really... "I played WoW and was a fat virgin, I quit and now I'm a super hero, I date super models and am a billionaire...." I haven't played WoW in months, my life isn't significantly better, it's the same, exactly the same; now that I don't play WoW I fill the WoW gap by spending vast amounts of time doing nothing like playing other meaningless videogames or surfing the net. Quitting WoW won't lead to anything substantial, you'll just find other worthless ways to fill the time.

You're supposed to contact customer service to resolve it. Do you really expect Blizzard to call every one of their millions of customers on the phone to say "Hey, we think you might be hacked!" People can get their accounts back you just have to contact them.

Yeah I think that's hilarious that people think that if you don't play WoW you're going to be out partying like a rock star or something. Really? Are people that stupid?

Or possibility, now that person likes to spend more time with friends and family they once neglected due to having to raid all the time.

My grades in college went up, my relationship with me fiance got better, I feel like I can step away from the computer for a few days without worrying about missing something in the other life I once had in a video game.

But hey, maybe you really wasn't playing the same game. Most of the people I know who play the game, play every moment they can.
