I have a rather old HTPC with a sempron processor, and all of a sudden there is no picture. There are two short beeps after the computer starts up, and it stays on, but there's no picture. I've tried different monitors and adding in a new graphics card, but there's still no picture. The gpu it was using was dedicated.

Any ideas?

Bios beep codes.. Have you tried the normal stuff? Reset CMOS, test RAM, etc.. If so, your motherboard likely bit the dust...

Yeah, I tried everything I can think of... the beep codes says it's something wrong with the RAM, but I've tried swapping the RAM, too. How can I tell if the motherboard is dead if it's still POSTing and everything?

If you have onboard video, use it. You'll get an image if it posts.. Have you tried switching RAM slots?

I have tried that, yes. I've been using the onboard video, then I think that died, so I tried a PCI graphics card, and that didn't work. Here's the manual for my motherboard. ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/asus/mb/sock754/e2611_k8v-vm.pdf

Hmm, I think I have had the same issue in the past with 2-3 other computers.

For some reason when it beeps, it means that the two little plastic "switches that snap tight on the RAM to keep it from going loose" were not completely snapped in place. When those switches are not completely snapped into place, then the computer won't start up and you will only hear beeps. Try making sure you pushed the RAM all the way in the slot so that the switches make a snapping sound or feeling (use your best judgement, don't literally push so hard you snap something). Let me know if this helps.
