No HAL in Vista means....

I read that Vista did away with the Hardware Abstraction Layer which is why X-Fi cards don't work the way they're supposed to.

But does that mean that if I get a new CPU and I want to just swap it out that I won't have to reinstall Windows or anything? It will just plug in and go basically?

yeah it will play straight away, the same as it does in xp. update your bios first though

Well I'm not upgrading any time soon...I was just curious as to why they would remove the HAL. Dummy proofing system upgrades I'm guessing...
