Only just saw Birds of Prey on consoles, but I've read that they were developing it for PC also however I haven't seen anything that indicates a PC version is going to be released.

Anyone have any info about it coming or not coming to PC?

Console version of IL-2? Really? With the limitations of a controller, I'm guessing it's designed for console and will probably stay on console.

I haven't heard anything about a PC version. It is weird if you ask me. The developer of the original part published/part developed Birds of Prey, so they must of had some control over the project. I don't know why they would choose consoles over PC for a flight sim, gamepad really restricts how many buttons you can use.

I see one thing that come to my mind. Maybe they think they can do more money if they just release a console version of the games. I didn't follow much Birds of Prey even if I do like flight sim and own IL-2. Maybe they want something a bit more arcade like. What I really wonder is how come we don't have it, but PSP and DS does... =( Guess we would have to wait for something else to come.

They probably wont bother, since its not really like the pc flight sim at all, its a place game built for consoles.

Still, theres no reason why us PC gamers looking for an arcade flight experience should miss out. I mean, its on the PSP and DS even! Show the pc some extra love!

If you want to play IL-2 on the PC you might consider buying IL-2 [1946]... It's only been out for the past few years or so...

I'm not the biggest fan of arcade flight and agree no matter what with you. I think it would have been easier to make it for pc than PSP or DS. Probably just a question of marketing. I'm nearly certain. Give us some loves companies.

Believe me, had they ported it to the PC, we hard-core flight simmers would be breaking out the pitchforks and torches (even worse than when Oleg first announced that his team was working on a console version of IL-2). The game was designedfor the console gamer's mindset. Keep it there. Bring on Battle of Britain: Storm of War instead!

I recently got Battlestations: Pacific on direct2drive after watching some gameplay videos and although the flight is arcade like the battles still look like a lot of fun.

But since it seems its highly unlikely for Brids of Prey be coming to PC, does anyone know of any fighter flight sims / or games with arcade style flight with really good graphics? With older planes preferably, but newer planes are also fun.

From what I heard, Birds of Prey is a console-specific version while the developers of the original are doing a PC-specific sequel.

You didn't heard wrong. It's one of the best when it comes to WW flight sims available. Even if the game is somewhat not really young.

I was a little bummed when I saw they were not going to make one for the PC. But, if you want a good flight simulator that is difficult, I would recommend 'Rise of Flight'. It is WW1 Bi-Planes, Superior graphics, Great game play but tough to master. I would also suggest having a TrackIr as panning around with a Hat Switch can get a little tough in a dog fight when you need to look over your shoulder. Be Warned though.......it is a graphics memory hog!! :)

Thanks a lot's for your recommendation. I will without any doubt looks for that game! I have no track IR, but think about buying it so freaking often. Almost every game I play the most support it. It's just a matter of time and money. Now let's see where I can find this game to play with my stick. hehe!

I don't see any reason to complain about Birds of Prey when you can already get IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 on the PC for US$10 or less. You get a lot more peripherals to choose from (gamepad twiddlysticks just don't cut it for old-school dogfighting; the planes are just that twitchy), you get more content, and about the only thing you won't get is the Real Is Brown look that Birds of Prey ended up getting for some reason. (I guess IL-2 wasn't "next-gen" enough for the consoles, so they had to bleach out the color even more and pile on the bloom.) Finally, they're working on Battle of Britain: Storm of War at the moment, designed exclusively around the PC. I'm sure that once that releases, any desire for IL-2: BoP on PC will evaporate entirely, since they'll probably update the graphics engine to rival Rise of Flight, as well as improve the flight models and everything else. (And, hopefully, they'll have proper multi-engine support for the twin-engine fighters so that you can use throttle quadrants with ease.) And speaking of TrackIR: Once you use it, there's no going back. If you play the titles it supports very often, it's worth every cent and then some. (I'd suggest buying a used TrackIR 4 Pro to start with to keep the costs a bit down, though. You might be able to pick one up for US$100, maybe even less.)
