my real thoughts:
why do people make threads like this? kind of flame bait whining trolling threads...
for one obviously there will be some difficulty settings
2. for the demonstrations god mode IS on. which is very ironic.
3 i seriously doubt the AI will be a problem in cyrsis, because the game is a huge technical achievement and it just wouldn't make sense if it had bad AI.
and no I'm not a fanboy in any way for crysis, it's just another game to me, but i am not ignorant :)
Don't worry about the nano-suit in the sinle player campaign: in the vids and demostrations usually the I.A. is setting at minumun, to let the public to explore different styles of gameplay and posibilities without being killed from a shot between the eyes since a half mille away... Like in "Realist" mode in Far Cry.
I'm sure that in the final game you will can put the difficult so high that some maps will be closer to a nightmare, specially if they use the checkpoint system like in Far Cry. I'm more worried about the repercusions of the nano-suit in the multiplayer: I'll like a tactical and slow pace gamepaly in the Power Struggle Mode, but the Deathmatch showed is more similar to UT and Quake sagas than a Infiltration or Red Orchestra ones.
And about the atmosphere, the design of Rapture in Bioshock is amazing, but the gameplay is a typical one first person shooter in corridors, but wuth powers like Dark Mesiah. I like more open landscapes like the ones in Alan Wake and Crysis.
You obviously don't know and haven't read too much about Crysis, have you? By the way, you do know that in that demonstration, god mode was on, right? trix5817
what he said ^ lol @ this thread
Firstly, demonstration videos usually have god mode on. We have no idea how many hits you can take while using the nano-suit, so the player may not be entirely god-like.
Secondly, the human enemies will only be in the first section of the game - I'd imagine that the aliens would still be able to kick your arse, even with the nano-suit.
The gameplay looks pretty mediocreArtosa
So what isnt mediocre to you? these "Just another generic shooter" comments are getting seriously old, especially when theh only game like it really is far cry.
Infact, most FPS games are not like eachother, only the ones created by the same developers.

so, there is nothing new, developers just make the same run and gun **** all the time with a different enviroment and models.
My real thoughts? Crysis is going to set a new high for a quality gaming experience.pinneyappleI agree.
i dont like nanosuits in general. i prefer to be an avarage guy in shooters and
i also dont like futuristic guns like super mega plasma gun or something
give me a shotgun and an uzi and i be happy (in games of course).
for difficulty i dont think it will be too easy cause far cry was pretty hard, it
was the only shooter i had to play on easy in order to not use cheats

I second that!
Farcry was a crazy game, the further along you got the harder and 'creepier' it got.
Crysis should and will be achallenging game, no point in being supper human with out a weakness [think Clark Kent AKA Superman & kryptonite :P] if you can run supper fast, you should be able to take more damage :) I also see in video's you will hardley ever find a single soldier they will all travel as squad's either with a Tank or aHummer looking car;)

I know what you're saying. I'm not a big fan of these elements either. Nano suits, nano augmentations...all this stuff has been done before, and it's often silly. However, I'm still optimistic that Crytek can pull this off in intelligent fashion. For those who are concerned it will have a negative effect on gameplay, my understanding from all the coverage I've read is that the AI will be well-tuned to your abilities. You'll have a slight edge with the nanasuit, but that's about it.
I like this video.. The gun shoots really nicely.. I think it's going to 'feel' right. I'm not as huge fan of grabbing items by that big ugly stupid hand reaching out and daintily grabbing the item you're trying to pick up with it's pinky-finger sticking out. :p
I like the elements of the suit.. I'd like it more if they made the game even harder, but added even more abilities for the suit.. But it would be too easy to make it even more unbalanced or create some flaws.
Like Vampire: Bloodlines. Which was actually pretty easy since you had so many cool abilities to use.. But some of the clans could be more challenging.. Most of the challenge in that game was in dialogue and stuff moreso than the fights, since it would be impossible to make a boss type fight just as hard for a nosferatu as a brut. But then again, some of the enemies had that super-speed ability you may or may not have, and it could get pretty crazy :p But that game is a true hardcore RPG, and I don't think Crysis will be, so I doubt you have to worry about that :p
Srry gameplay trailors usually contain action not the dude getting his ass handed to him. Don't want kiddies not buying a game cos it looks too hard do you?
And as far as i read the Nano suit will be balanced to fit the gameplay so you should be ok on the hardest difficulty setting if you are that concerned.
My opinion though, If godmode-style (eg. prey) stops you getting frustrated at a game i'm all for it.
Last time I checked, Far Cry had multiple difficulty settings. This one will too. In the second half of the game you'll be fighting aliens anyway, which I guarantee will be a helluva lot tougher than North Korean army grunts.
It looks like a public demonstration. Most game companies make the game super easy so as to not frustrate the people demoing the game.
Its too early to gauge balance at this point in time.
XaosII
yup too early for judgment yet, and in one vid, the player did major recon and planning before attacking, some people will just jump into a camp and start shooting which maay not be as safe as the player in the vid was like.
