Which is the best

I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but a high qulaity crt is the way to go for gamingThe colours on a high quality CRT are as much vibrant as any LCD.What you are probably refering to is the overall clear picture of LCD.
i myself have a dell p1110 21", although that particular one had a terible birghtness problem at one point i was able to fix it with a simple resistor swap and it is BEAUTIFUL for gaming, and i picked it up for only about $80
ive used a couple high quality lcd's such as the samsung 226bw and the lg l227wtg, both were nice and all but they cant beat the clarity and SMOOTHNESS(crt's refresh rates kicks the **** out of lcd's 60hz, and FYI fps above the monitors refresh rate is not visible to the eye, with my crt i play at 1600x1200 w/ 85hz refresh rate which = 25fps more VISIBLE smoothness over lcd's 60hz, and crts scale MUCH better at different resolutions than lcds from native resolutions) of a nice crt in games, the only thing imo that i like about lcds over crts is the color vibrancy(and that can be competed with if u just turn up the color vibrancy in ur vidoe card driver settings)and text clarity(just for text, not games)
and u can get crts for very cheap today of ebay or craigslist or something
Overall though high quality crt>>>high quality lcdkidcool189
And high quality LCD>High quality CRT>>TN panel LCD and lagging non-TN LCD's.
As long as you have the graphics power to play in the native res, nothing can beat a high quality LCD.Ofcourse if you dont have it then maybe you can give the edge to a CRT but actually the better 1080p HDTV's in the market are EXTREMELY good at upscaling.

Those are good 22 inch TN monitors but TN panels are still the worst type of LCD screens. They are definitly not high-quality by any means.

The better LCD's actually have 75Hz if I am not mistaken.
1600x1200 @ 85hz is jsut sooooo mcuh smoother than 1680x1050(something like that for lcd's)@ 60hz, if ur computer is powerful enough to produce frames that high for todays gameskidcool189
And there are HDTV's with 120Hz.But regardless to say that 85Hz feels "sooo" much smoother is now overating things. The mouse does feel quite a bit smoother I'll give you that.;)
Honestly I dont think you have seen a high quality LCD in it's awesomeness. As gog pointed the ones you have seen are absolutely not high quality.

You said that a high quality CRT is better than a high quality LCD which is wrong. All of your other points are fair enough.
samsung SYNCMASTER 226BW imoGTR2addictoh yeah soo totally, that is unless u want a really expensive monitor...on average the 226bw is 200 bucks, sooo yeah. its awsome for its value.
[QUOTE="Spybot_9"]Sure.You said that a high quality CRT is better than a high quality LCD which is wrong. All of your other points are fair enough.LordEC911
What are you talking about?
Not to turn into Thinker... but CRTs ARE better than LCDs.
A high quality non-TN LCD has much better image quality than a CRT.The image is just so crisp, bright and clear on the LCD.Not to say that the image is not excellent in it's own right on the CRT.
Widescreen>Normal screen.
And lastly CRT's are so reflective that it's impossible to have any light source behind the monitor. While on LCD's you may see backlight bleeding in darker areas,on CRT's you may see your own face in darker areas.
If you are talking aboit less than 250$ then its going to be TN-screen mostly... However, if your pc is decent or you dont really care much about gaming then 20'' screen should be better to have higher resolution (16x10) at least..Eh but it's 19x12 right?
Honestly, if i were you with that small budget, I'd search on eBay, you should find great deals on 2007wfp (S-IPS Panel or even S-PVA in some cases) you might have to pay like 275~300$ depends of the auction and bidders but this 50$ will worth it for sure because you are talking about one of the top screens at this range.. SearchMaster
If you want really good image quality on a LCD and not a very high res, then IMO a good brand 720p HDTV is the best.Just sit a little far from the screen and the low res is not a big concern.:)
How do you tell if a monitor's panel is TN or not?
I think I heard something about the viewing angle...
EDIT: Also, does anyone know if the ASUS MK241 24" LCD is a TN panel?
