I was reading GS's preview of Velvet Assassin and it reminded me of one of my best games ever: No One Lives Forever 2! I never played the first game in the series, but they were both so successful, I wonder why there hasn't been a number 3 yet...

NOLF is a neat series, but I think Monolith has already moved on. For a major FPS developer, they have worked on a surprisingly large number of IPs over the last decade (compared with the other big FPS companies like Infinity Ward, Valve, id, Crytek and co), and I believe it is unlikely they will go back to an old IP (especially considering the popularity of F.E.A.R).
At this point, I think F.E.A.R/Condemned will either become longrunning franchises, or they will move on to brand new IPs after PO. A NOLF 3 could happen - and I would be interested to see Monolith try a serious spy-themed FPS with advanced RPG elements (something approaching Deus Ex), but I personally would prefer a new IP and protagonist over another NOLF game.
With some knowledge of what is in the pipeline for upcoming PC releases --- which I'm very excited about btw --- I have to say at this point, in addition to perhaps a System Shock 3 proper, that there is nothing -NOTHING- I'd like more than No One Lives Forever 3. For me, it is what's missing in the PC gaming puzzle :D
However, note that it's a complicated scenario for such a release to happen with Monolith continuing as the developers: http://www.thegluefactory.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6347
Well they had contract jack :) that was the third one.adrake4183
As NOLF3? Perish the thought :P That was an very ill-conceived (IMO) stand-alone expansion set in the NOLF universe with a heavier focus on action and less stealth.
This game is a very different direction than NOLF1/NOLF2, and purportedly gained life as a sort of "fan service" by giving them changes they (the fans -- who were these so called "fans" anyway?) had requested.
I loved both of the NOLF games. Humor, class and narrative. Not to mention excellent set pieces. Plane scene anyone?
I cant really think of a game i would want more than a NOLF update. It would be so cool with whats available today.
