Non-mmo/fps game to make friends in

I'm really craving the old Halo 2 community where I could strike up conversations with people and make buds with people beyond as players. Is there a non-fps/mmo with a community like this?

CoD :P just kidding, don't know any - you could join an outfit on PlanetSide 2 - community is great there, most of the guys talk over TeamSpeak
