I just built a PC from scratch... I seem to have everything physically installed properly. When I turn it on, everything seems to boot properly. The fans go, the LED's light up. the hard drive spins, the CD room lights up (opens and closes as well), however, there is no signal to the display. Now, Everything is fresh, the hard drive is OEM, the video card drivers haven't been installed, nor has Windows. My friend thought that because the videocard hasn't been installed, and there is no windows on the drive, there is no way to do it on the current set up. What I've done: I pulled the hard drive and plugged it into a computer that works just fine (as a secondary hard drive). Well, the drive doesn't show up on the My Computer page, but I checked the SATA ports with another HD, and they all are working fine. So, now I'm thinking that it's my hard drive, so, keeping it plugged in, I tried installing it manually, but the drive appeared on the list as installed, however, not initialized. I don't know what that means... Here are all of my pieces: *WD1001FALS (hard drive) - Western Digital Caviar black 1.0 TB, SATA 32MB of Cache *Intel Core i7 Processor *ASUS P6t Motherboard X58 chipset *GeForce Nividia 9500 GT videocard *Corsair Platinum (1.65V) 6gb memory (3x2gb cards) Other: * Centurion 590 tower * LG supermulti DVD/CD writer * Acer X203H LCD Monitor Please help!

Can you describe the problem a bit more closely? For example, is it only the screen that doesn't appear or you don't actually hear any beeps when you turn it on?

If I was having this problem the first thing I'd do is double check the power connections are correct. Next thing I'd do would be to check the graphics card and memory are properly seated and secure. Then if that failed, I'd do the same with the CPU.

It's not going to be a hard drive problem, because your computer doesn't even know whether there's a hard drive present until it scans for one, and by that time the screen should have come on and the system should be well into the booting process.

There are no beeps... if it weren't for the blank screen, I'd say that it worked just fine. Everything is sitting securely... the motherboard lights up too.

If you meant that there are no beeps at alland you do not hear a beep during post, try taking out the battery of the motherboard and replacing it after about 10 minutes so the CMOS can be reset. If that is not the issue and you are getting a short beep after turning the computer on, check if the power supply is connected to the grpahics card. Then check if the monitor is connected to the graphics card. If possible, try relpacing the monitor or the graphics card to check does that resolve the problem.

Most motherboard come with an external speaker, as most cases do not come with speakers.im assuming he didnt connect it. The problem isnt the hard drive, infact a defective hard drive would not interfere with the booting process or post screen. you just wouldnt be able to see a hard drive when your into the cmos or upon the os installation. If you get a black screen with no post it is one of the following.

1.Power connections are not properly connected. The motherboard requires 2 powers 1 is a 4pin (dont confuse this with a PCI-E) also a 20-24Pin.

2. Improper Hardware installation. Make sure everything is properly installed and seated. I don't know what type of video card you may have but some require an external source of power, either a 4pin or 6pin PCI-E or both, or may not require any but you need to make sure.

3. RAM. again make sure it is properly seated and if possible test it with another machine. What you could do is if you have more than 1 stick of RAM take one out and test them one at a time. If you still get no post after that result into testing the ram into another machine if possible.

4. CPU. If the CPU is defective it will not post, since you are new to building computers. It is possible you bent a pin as you tried to insert the cpu onto the socket and therefore resulted in not posting.

I got the GT9500 because I'm not using this as a gaming computer, but rather, a music recording, and mixing comp. I'm going to use a firepod as my external sound card, and the video usage will be quite limited. The GT 9500 I bought was like 50% off...

What are you plugging the video cable into? The integrated or the 9500gt?

Unless I'm blind or crazy or both, there is no integrated videocard on this board... nothing that matches the back of my monitor anyway.

I had the same motherboard, and the reason mine wasn't posting was due to the backplate of my cpu cooler. I had it on backwards, check and see if the mobo is contacting any place on the case, also the videocard won't need drivers to boot up, it will automatically work. Double check that you have the cpu 8 pin plugged in and the ATX cable plugged in, check the cpu for proper placement, check the gpu for proper connection, check the ram too.

If you had an integrated gpu on your motherboard then on the the place with all the plugins on the back there would be a vga plug in or a dvi (usually it's just vga though).

This motherboard doesn't have a speaker, so no beeps doesn't mean anything. Do you have you case speaker connected to your motherboard? If not do so now, and tell us what beeps you hear, if any at all. (NOTE: The case speaker will be a cable labeled SPKR or SPK. Connect it as guided to on the motherboard manual.)

I hope I helped. Anyway, even if I did not, I am glad that you got your computer working, because franklyI had the exactly same problem recently, and I know it can be a pain.

Cheers.
