I have an 8800 GT and can't get 30 FPS on Crysis. I tried putting half of the settings on med and the other half on high but I sometimes get into the low 15s. I have all the crysis patches, and have the latest forceware...

My specs are:

AMD Athlon 64(x2) 4200+

2GB of Ram

8800 GT

My CPU is gettin a bit old, and it probably is a bottleneck for my GPU, but is it really that bad that I can only play on medium at 1280 x 1024? any feedback would be great.

I also have a 8800GT, but with a Q6600. At 1280x1024, the game can perform problematically. However, once I went down to 1024x768 and only kept the most important settings on very high (post-processing, shaders, water and game effects) and the rest on high, the game started performing marvelously and still looks just as good.
Try turning down the resolution and some of the details. Also be sure to run the latest version.

That's odd. I set up my friend with an E6600 and an EVGA 8800GT OC and he can play at 1680x1050 all High 30 FPS.

That's the kind of FPS I got when running the game at all very high settings @ 1024x768 and the same settings I use now for 1280x1024. The thing is (A) I understand your friend's 8800 is overclocked, unlike mine and (B) I sought more than 30FPS. I'm quite happy with how the game looks and performs now, mostly kept at over 45FPS and hitchless.

You can overclock your 8800GT. And 30 FPS in Crysis is comparable to 50+ FPS in other games. Feels smoother than HL2 @ 60FPS.

Well I guess that's up to you. To me at 30FPS it doesn't feel as smooth as HL2 at 60PS. And I don't really want to OC my video card since I lack any kind of experience in that and don't want to damage my card.
Besides, with the exception of the details I left on very high, there's very little visual difference between high and very high settings.
