Well, I'm getting a job later this month and I'm planning on saving up my money to buy an Xbox 360 and a ps3 so I can play games like Dead Rising and the new RE and GTA game. I was wondering if this would be a safe desicion, I've heard bad things about both, so I wanted to make sure. Any help is greatly appreciated ^_^

By safe do you mean, from hardware failures and such?

If you want a PS3, buy the $500/60GB one now before they're gone; Sony is replacing those with a neutered 80GB/$600 model that loses the PS2 EE and PS1 MIPS chips that allowed for hardware emulation.

If you want a 360, but can't afford the Elite (which is supposed to run cooler to begin with), keep in mind that the biggest cause for hardware failures are generally related to the system overheating. If you can't keep the thing in a really cool place, I'd suggest getting a Pelican AirFlo 360 cooler as it also allows you to be able to hook up the 360 with off-the-shelf cabling, which that in itself can be more valuable than the cooling it also provides.

MS has just extended their warranty on the 360 to 3yrs specifically for the overheating problem (called the "3 rings of death"). The PS3 doesn't have this problem, but as has been stated their getting rid of the extra chips in an effort to cut down on costs.
