I am thinking of purchasing a decent gaming laptop...but not entirely sure where I should look for one.

I don't really want to order one, because I am afraid of dead pixels.

I was going to check out the retail stores like Comp USA, BestBUy, etc etc.

Where do you guys purchase your laptops from?

First, big box stores rarely carry gaming laptops, they offer little to know customization of specs and more often then not they will have integreated graphics. Quick question, why do you want a gaming laptop? You get no where near the performance for the price you would with a desktop and if you go full blown gaming hardware you have poor mobility and battery life. If you do want a laptop though i doubt you will ever find an instore setup as good as something you'll find online.

I get my laptops off this guy who sells cheap dell laptops on ebay. Got my XPS m1710 for £500 than buying direct from Dell brand new.

Also, may be worth checking out the Dell outlet for cheap refurbs/returns. Sometimes you can pick up a bargain.

It's an ok card, but the processor is a little weak ( i imagine it is a Core 2 Duo, but still). I wouldn't consider this a gaming laptop per se, but you will be able to be yo run some stuff (you aren't goign to max new games if thats what you're hoping for.) If you do end up ordering from dell or soem other comouter maker only order 512 ram and then buy 2 gigs on your own, it is cheaper in most cases to buy the ram on your own and swap it then get the upgrade from the manufacturer.
