noticable difference between 1066 and 800 RAM

Im planning on building a new system in the near future and im goin with the Core 2 Duo E6550 which has a FSB of 1333MHz. But im not sure whether i would need to go with 1066 RAM or whether i can get away with using 800 RAM which would save me money and is the most idealistic option as i dont get much money.

Im wondering if i would really notice the bottleneck in games if i use 800MHz memory?

Or should i just get a E6420 and use 800 RAM with that?

you can overclock pass 1066mhz. if you have a gigabyte p35 ds3r, you can OC the cpu in the high 3's, with that ram.

If your not going to overclock then there would be no reason to go with 1066( unless you just want to tighten the timings), as most likely your motherboard would default pc 1066 speeds down to 800DLKings

yeah i agree, if ur not overclocking, go with 800MHZ ddr2. ur timings can be set way tighter (good ram will get you 4-4-4-12 easy). i use 1066mhz ram, and my timings are 5-5-5-15, higher latency. u wont bottleneck the CPU, as the FSB is 333mhz, so a 1:1 ratio will have ur ram @ 666mhz. wait, is that right? yeah, think so lol

I never overclocked my system, but then again anyone running a microATX casing like me would not bother cause it would cause too much heat.

well with the 1066mhz ram you can lower it down to 800mhz to make your cpu oc a little better but 800mhz will be just fine.__JMAR_

ddr2 with native 800mhz has better latencies/timings. plus you can tighten them even more if u want
