Hey, I'm planning on buying a PC that can run Crysis smoothly on high-very high settings. Im getting a Q6600, a 8800gt, and 3gb of ram with vista 32bit. Thing is on some other harware forums I've been browsing on, they say that right now isnt the best time to buy a PC. They said that much better processors and graphics cards are coming out soon.

Is this true? And if so, what are these new processors and cards coming out?

Thanks!!

Well, thats true. aNew wave of processors and video cards are hitting the shelves in less that month (1 week for the CPU/1 month for the VGA).
For the processor, you might wait if you want to go to Dual-core because the new E8x00 series are hell cheap and strong but if you still want the Qaud-Core then you have to wait untill Mar-Apr for the new ones.
About the VGA, the next 9 series are coming in amonth or less but if your budget is kinda tight then just get the 8800GT because the new cards aint cheap at all.

I think that's exactly what I'll be doing. The new 9-series cards don't seem to offer enough of a performance boost to really justify the price premium. An 8800GT for $250 seems like a better offer. Do you think the prices of the 8800GT will go down once the new GPUs come out, or still remain at around $250?

Also, I have a tube crt monitor, someone told me that the monitor doesn't really affect the gaming experience, even when playing high end games. Is that true, or should I get a lcd flat panel or something?

Well, it might go down abit but im still not sure yet because its not under the same cover. I mean if we were talking about the ULTRA or maybe GTX then those should definitly go down (though i dont care because im not getting these anyway).
I will just probably stick with 8800GT because e-tailers already are trying to sell as cheap as they can. Furthermore, buying 8800GT now means that when evenr you feel that you need abetter option, you can get another 8800GT and the costs of x2 cards wont be even same as the new 9800GX2.
