The new dx11/high res textures look great (its not just bricks) the editor is only new and no one has done anything worthwhile with it yet but rest assured modders are probably going crazy right now and will have something for us. Plus there is more to come I think later in the summer. Maybe hold off a bit until mods come out if you are unsure. Don't get it for MP as its practically dead now and wasn't all too magnificent. Got boring fast
Is it worth it? Do you think the online community will be back to a degree which makes the mp worthwhile?itslancethedog
definately worth it. I love the original crysis to death and so i was definately dissapointed with Crysis 2. BUT. C2 is still a great game, now with the DX11 and the editor its biggest fault is is that it isnt the original.
i say go for it
They will never allow for custom-made maps on multiplayer because they whole system is locked down, so it will NEVER be like Crysis Wars. The multiplayer will never improve unless they give us dedicated server files, which will never happen.nintendog66Err yes you can, they even have it in the documentation. They also gave us the dedicated server files (not ranked of course).
Yes, but in august they are releasing a free version of Cryengine 3 to compete with the UDK.do u need a Copy of Crysis 2 to use the editor?

ok. for a second there i thought i was going to have to give away $60
Uh, obviously, the SDK is nothing like the Editor. It's just an empty shell of an engine with chunks of code for modders and game devs to actually make games with. You'll have to fork out the $40 or so to use the editor. And to answer the OP, yes it is worth it. The multiplayer is still decently populated, not as much as say, TF2 or Counter Strike but you'll always find games. Plus mods for the singleplayer and you have great value. They will never allow for custom-made maps on multiplayer because they whole system is locked down, so it will NEVER be like Crysis Wars. That's sad. Custom mp maps could bring players into the game like in Valve games.

It is completely free to use for noncommercial games and will have different licence plans for commercial games. And it won't be an empty shell, no engine maker in their right mind would release a blank SDK for free like that, it will include sample game code and assets from Crysis 2, just like the UDK came with sample code and assets from UT3.
