is it like an army game where you have to set up barracks and stuff...

or is it more like WoW where you just have a small party of individual people.

I'm not good at describing things, I hope you get the gist of what im saying, lol.

Lemme word it a bit different...

Is it more like World of Warcraft (minus the MMO part) or more like civilization?

It's an RTS, where you build buildings and an army though Warcraft III games online never take too long since the game is pretty fast-paced.

But to answer what real-time means. Real-time basically counters turn-based RTS games. Real-time means that everything is in motion at all times while in turn-based you make turns, like you build a few buildings while the other player waits and then you finish your move and then you'll wait while the other player will start making his turn.

EDIT: No, it's not like Civilization, it's more like Command & Conquer. Try out the demo and see if you like it.

A demo? Sweet, I didn't know there was one out, I'll try to find it.

There's also an expansion pack. I don't know if that one has a demo as well.

It's an RTS but has some RPG elements.

It's also the greatest PC game ever made.

It is a Real-time Strategy game. It came out years before World of Warcraft was released. So if anything, WoW is more inspired by WC3 than the other way around.

It's like starcraft except with fantasy races instead of sci-fi races. There are similarities between lots of the teams in Warcraft 3/Starcraft.

The only thing it has in common with WoW is the storyline and the world it is set in.

You should atleast do a little bit of research before asking questions like these. It probably would have taken far less time to just search it up in here, and look at a few screenshots, and you would have also seen the demo.

Yeah WC3 is a great game, what with all the online maps like footmen frenzy, slide ninja/kitty slide, etc.

I actually LoL when I read the OP.

I thought everyone knew what a Real Time Strategy game was (well at least be able to differentiate the difference between a RTS and a MMORPG).

Sort of like how your sentence countered itself? :P No offense intended, of course, just thought that was funny. Turn-based real-time strategy game. Now there's a brainbuster for ya!

Ok, I got it:

A normal RTS game with turn based combat. Sort of like Silent Storm... you walk around and do your own thing - build, gather, train, etc. But when your guys come in contact with the enemy everything pauses and it enters a turn based combat structure.

Ha!

(Not sure what would be the point of creating a gameplay like that, but it does fit the description!)
