I saw this on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130377

It's a 9800 GT superclocked for $149.99 after rebate. Did this card just hit the market because I never heard of a 9800 GT. Anyone have benchmarks?

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=544&card2=575

Same exact core was used, and the clock speeds, shader processors, texture units, and render back-ends remain the same.

9800GT is a die-shrink version of the 8800GT. Our tests actually show that it performs somewhat worse than the 8800GT (by a tiny amount, 1 fps or so on pretty much everything, not quite significant enough to say its really slower). I've heard that it overclocks very well, though (I haven't tried it myself yet).

I'm pretty sure it's the exact same card, I don't think they cut anything out of it.

I don't think it's even a die shrink. Nvidia is considering a die shrink for it (9800GT+?), but the current 9800GT is literally the exact same card as the 8800GT. I don't think they even added Tri-SLI support like they did for the 9800GTX.

Different bios (one of the few differences) I would be shocked if it would work unless you tryed to flash an 8800gt bios on it.

Post your results. I have a feeling that an 8800gt bios will work on it. I would be shocked if it didnt actually.

It's re-badged 8800gtX360PS3AMD05

what a joke, it should always have been called the 9800gt but now they change it just to confuse everyone, just like those re labeled 8800gs

in the past 6 months of video cards there has been more time spent trying to relabel everything to make them seem better than acually releasing 'real' new cards. the 9 series was nothing but a 65nm 8 series with a few minor tweeks. It's time for some real new cards
