My Sony Vaio is affected by the defective GPU (8400M), but it is not in the affected models list.

Can I not participate in this?

Did you go thorugh and put in your serial number to check? If not, perhaps your issue is not exactly related to the case? I got a post card about this a couple weeks ago or so, and I went and checked and my Dell laptop is one of the models and my seriel number confirmed it. But I'm not even sure exactly what the issues are, so I don't think I'll do anything. But, you can't submit a claim yet until the determination at the hearing, but you can at least sign up to be notified when that happens to see what your options are at that time.
