If we're talking about the 896MB version of the GTX 260 then it goes as follows:
GTX 260 216 > 5770 > GTX 260
The GTX 260 1792MB beats all of them.
oh right i see, but what about all the features of Nvidia? Is it worth getting a 5770 if it doesnt hav the features?
the 260 doesnt come in half height which can be a VERY critical factor in determining which gpu you buy. all the gtx 200 series and the 400 series are dual slot bricks where the hd 4800 and 5700/5800 series have single layer cards.
furthermore the 5770 uses less power and as eyefinity and dx11 and opengl 3.2 support (unlike the gtx 260 which only has 1.2 (gtx 400 series has 3.2) for those that doubt me.. here: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=577&card2=615#
butt the 260 is becoming tough to find.. newegg is even running low on supplies and at other major retailers the areeither sold out or running thin. as the 200 series has stopped all manufacturing PERIOD
the 5770 is alot like the 3870 to the 8800gt better than the 2900xt but still not there. both are equally worthwhile to get but at the end of the day it comes down to how much leg work you want to do to get a gpu. and how much you want to spend:
gtx 260 evga (216 core) $200
hd 5770 xfx $170
If you have the money for a gtx 260 core 216 (make SURE it is this version), get that. Otherwise, get the 5770. Also, if you are getting a motherboard that supports Crossfire, get the 5770.
Its based solely one how much you would like to spend, If they are relatively close in price, get the gtx 260 216SP otherwise get the usually cheaper 5770.
GTX 260 - $200

I say 5770, especially if the mobo has crossfire support.
