Is this video card decent? I don't care about playing games like Crysis but can this video card run most games on atleast medium settings? If it helps I also got Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and 2gb ram.

I seriously consider the same card, but I ended up jumping upto the 8800 GT, it was well worth the extra 50 to 60 bux spent......I wanted the GTS but just didnt have the extra $100, I did a PSU and memory....but I really like this card.

The 8600M is for laptops, not PCs.

Its decent, but not great. It should be fine for other games besides Crysis.

Is there even a 8800M GT for laptops?

OP,you should get medium in most games easily.

that is a good laptop GPU, because when you add the 8800MGTX they can get quite expensive, definetly go for that.

i have an 8600 gt and i can play crysis with all settings at high with 1024 res. the game only slows when lots of explosions and stuff happens and all of the snow parts. i just have a demo of crysis but it plays just fine at medium settings.

it would play crysis on low settings with some on medium...but noooo if you want a cheap card to run it at medium get the 8700m, but if u want to game on a laptop best bet is to get the only good card now on lappies is the 8800m gtx and gts, which compare to the desktop verisons of 8800 gt and gts. so the 8800m cards can run crysis on high-very high, which means those cards will last awhile and make games look pretty for the costs of 400 dollars they are worth it imo. plus if u get the mk3 mobo set-up on your lappy u can upgrade the card later when the 9800gtx comes out according to nvidia rumors.

u have the desktop card tho....if u want to see how the 8600m gt runs crysis just google videos of it...its not pretty. if u want to play crysis on a lappy with good visuals u will have to get the 7950 gtx from last years, or the new dx 10.1 8800m gtx and gts cards which are expensive but if u want a gaming lappy.

I believe the 8800M was released a month or 2 ago. 8600M is strong, but don't expect it to be as strong as the desktop version.
