my current video card is a nvidia geforce ti4200 (sorry about bringing the old 4000's series into a thread) and im getting a new pc. my mum dosent want to get the 'ultimate gaming machine', however i have and option of video cards to choose from:

nvidia geforce 6150LE;

nvidia geforce 7300LE

Ati radeon x1300 pro

first of all, i prefer Nvidia, although the best card here is the 7300, yet LE stands for lite edition. so its a budget version of the actuall 7300. maybe i should go for the x1300 pro, but....i dont really want to get an ATi. if possible could you compare the 7300 LE to my current Ti 4200? that would be cool,

thanks!

Nvidias Ti's are very good, although they are old. well unfortunately thoses are the only ones a can choose from.... im not asking for the best PC, but one that is good with vista and capable with running most games pretty sweet. the most graphics hungry games i have are probably flight simulator X and far cry

Flight sim x is very graphics hungry and that 7300le wouldn't want to go near it. Have you considered buying a second hand graphics card. I got a 7300gs in perfect conditon for about 45 usd delivered. Its not a great card but its better than a 7300le. If you need a budget card the 7300gt performs twice aswell as the 7300gs

well, i live all the way in new zealand, but that deals not soo bad... yeah im running fsx on my ti4200 and its like 8f/s on the ground and 18f/s in the air.... i can manage low frame rates with fsx, becos theres no fast action in a flight simulator. but games like far cry need to be looked at for frame rates...

well, the x1300 has 512Mb ram, and the geforce has 256MB ram on it. and a friend of mine said that graphics memory is important. so maybe i might get the x1300...

It's only important if the Memory is fast enough to use all that memory. A 256MB GDDR3 card will run better than a 512MB DDR2 card, generally. If you're going for really low budget, look for a 6600GT, or a 7300GT

You want a 256 mb card, NOT A 512MB CARD! All cheap 512mb cards suck. And ATI is better than Nvidia in terms of radeon X1K series vs geforce 7 series. So don't say you like nvidia better when you clearly know jack squat about graphics cards if you base a decision on more memory. Get something in the x1650 series, preferably the xt

well apparently there are two versions of the x1300: the x1300, and the x1300 pro. pro version, obviously is better. (duh, pro).

cant remember which one has 256 and the other 512, but i dont care which has which: only which is better.

thanks guys for the help so far, im persuaded for the ATi now.
