Wow nice, even going at 1440p or 4K it seems like it got the upper hand on the RX480 8Gb.

If it's going to be 250$ as they say - which something I don't believe in since it's going to be grabbed from stores like hot cakes, then it's worth the extra 10$ compared to the 8Gb RX480.

I'm not sure whether it's worth against the 200$ 4Gb RX480 or not, there's almost no difference between the 8Gb and the 4Gb editions of the 480 even at 4K or 1440p.

From Techpowerup - it slightly beat the 8Gb version in price/performance - I wish they'd put the 4Gb edition to compare.

@PredatorRules: Its already all over the world in the promised $249 price (or $10 more than RX480).

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE $249 in US (newegg)

MSI non-reference GTX1060 6GB for €279 in Germany

non-reference GTX1060 start from £229 in UK shops

All these are just $£€10 (lol new currency) more than chepest RX480 which are reference models :(.

From what I see now that the $200-$250 GPU puzzle is completed, I would recommend (always non-reference) RX480 4GB for the $200 price segment and GTX1060 6GB for the $250 price segment.

So in the end it will depend, how much money someone wants to pay.

Looks great! A much better jump than a gtx 960. The only gripe is no SLi, while the rx 480 has crossfire.

The compact EVGA 1060 is £238... I more than certain that's my next card. Small, quiet, same price as the RX 480 but 10-15% more performance?... Yes please.

Lesser power consumption than 480 and some actual overclocking headroom, that's what I like about this card. I'll wait for custom 480's to roll out, though, then I'll decide which one I'll buy.

This card is on paper more expensive than the RX480... Yet in Norway it is almost the opposite. There is no difference in price between them. 8GB RX480 and 6GB GTX 1060 is separated by 1-2 dollars in price here. That doesn't make sense. As if sellers here want AMD to fail.

I dunno... citing Vulkan as an advantage is a bit shortsighted right now. It's great for the three games that are actually using it (only one of which is actually heavily demanding graphically), but you're not going to see games supporting this thing in excess for at least a year or two and by year two some people will be GPU shopping yet again. Vulkan is not proprietary so there's no telling how much of an advantage it's going to give AMD specifically if compared against Nvidia. That depends on Nvidia. Nice notch on the badge but nothing more than that for me at least.

With 2GB VRAM more and uses 120w.

Its a no brainer for anyone with the R9380/GTX 960 or lower GPU looking for a upgrade.

I just don't like two things about it (well sorta don't like). I'm def not a fan of that 192 bit and SLI should have been standard for this card. I know it's a mid-ish range card but still...

It depends on the benchmark mix.

For Techpowerup

It's missing Ashes of Singularity DX12, Doom Vulkan, Total War WarHammer DX12, Quantum Break DX12, Forza 6 Apex beta DX12, Killer Instinct.

I'm interested in the 1060 mini edition that Zotac has on Newegg. It's a great size for my Mini itx case, and only needs 1 cable for the PSU. So this would be great to free up some space!

The only let down with the 1060 is the fact that only one of them, the asus strix edition, has gpu 3.0 boost enabled..

I'm considering upgrading my mediapc's gpu with the mini edition as well, just recently upgraded the case to Fractal Design Node 304 White(mostly aesthetic reasons)

@howmakewood: Nice case!

The only thing that's keeping me from getting the 1060 mini is that I currently have a GTX 970 SC in the case. So it's not much of an upgrade really if I sold the 970 and got the 1060.

mine is currently running on sapphire 380 and while it doesn't really have too high performance requirements, it runs a bit too hot/loud for my taste

@howmakewood: I'm surprised with after a few months of using it, the inside hasn't collected dust at all and the temps have been very good lately. I have it connected to my 4k tv in my living room and I've tried out a few demanding games on it.

I can't find any reviews of the cheaper models like this Gainward. Right now it's the cheapest option for me at 300€. I wonder if MSI Gaming X is worth the price premium. I just want a silent card, I don't care how much it overclocks.

I haven't seen any review for Gainward models apart from Gainward GTX 1060 Phoenix GS model.

From Vortez review:

The cooler which is attached to the Phoenix GS is quiet, even under full load. Noise levels can be regarded as low and undisruptive.

And they review it yesterday...

I should be getting a GTX 1060 next week. I'll try to run some benchmarks with it.

Should I dare to ask why someone with GTX980Ti @1429MHz would get a GTX1060? :P

Perhaps for wierd unique room decoration? xD

Folding at home... I recently removed my GTX 680... Damn thing output almost as much heat my GTX 980Ti at 1429MHz... Actually 1454MHz now... And the 6600K is at 4.6GHz. I need to update my signature. :P

I also got a GTX 980 for folding. Got it for cheap, used.
