It seems like no matter what computer i use, ntune seems to temporarily either reset or lock up alot. Is there any other programs that are better for OC PCI-E port and GPU that anyone recommends?

Ntune won't work at all for me..it constantly locks up my computer. You'd think they'd release an update to fix that horrible bug..but I guess they could careless (last update was back in September I think). I'm running Vista 32bit. I can't even use Riva Tuner because it doesn't seem to be compatible with the 8800GTS-512 card and OR maybe the 169.28 beta drivers. Ati-tool won't recognize the card either. So im waiting on an updated Nvidia beta driver to see if that's the issue.

You need to go into the Rivatuner.cfg file and add something to the G92 line. Under the [GPU_10DE] gpu's, the G92 line should read:

G92 = 610h-61Fh,600h

This is with Rivatuner v2.06. I'm using a 8800gts 512mb and the 169.28 drivers in Vista. Ntune is crap, I only use ati tool for artifact testing.

I should request a sticky for this... NEVER OC WITH NTUNE! Especially if you have an nvidia based chipset, it will mess up your settings terribly. Even just to monitor temps, it makes changes that caused me to clear CMOS and reflash the bios. Ntune is one of the worst programs ever, and any tech support on evga will say that it is a VERY BAD idea to install it.

That riviar or what ever that tune up thing is is really great. This is what I use to tinker around with mine.

I have a nvidia 8600gt xxx 256mb and it works fine for me. The only thing that doesn't work for me is that ati tool thing.

To me when I goto up the core and the bus the screen will let you know if it is to much cause I had my screen come up with all sorts of colors. I think in order for me to get the right settings I did it 7 times and each time the screen came up with a different color. Then finaly it came up the correct color and I knew then that it was ok.

Forgot to mention ntune is full of it. It is no good. Also in the other tune up program when you find just the right stuff you can save it and so then when you shup down your pc and then turn it back on your settings will still be there unlike in the other one you had to reset all of the settings and to me that was a royal pain in the you know where.

I don't think ntune is buggy, but its not the best software for overclocking your GPU, use rivatuner.

It caused my 680i's BIOS to reset. So 1 out of every 10 or so times I turn it on, I would have to reset my OC, a re-enable RAID in the BIOS. I RMA'ed one board before we narrowed it down to Ntune, had to reinstall windows to get rid of problem.
