SO I just built a new PC, and I have read some information on the next gen GPU's from Nvidia. Will I be able to use one of these cards sometime at end of next year when they release? Or have I just wasted 1300 bucks.

You'll be able to use the new cards without issue. What are the specs of your new pc?

Why wouldn't you be able to use new cards? You can buy one or four and use it as soon as it comes out.

Your rig should last you for years as it is.

A PC is not a console, you can change the parts within it.

As for your question, just remove your GTX970 and replace it with a new GPU from Pascal series.

Well I was reading and a lot ope people were asking if it would work with their current motherboards. And then people were asking if they should wait to build a computer. I was just worried that these new cards wo t use pcie 3.0

@XxAK47xX: People are overreacting as always.

Imagine that even a PCIE 1.1 will only bottleneck a GTX980 just by 6%. So if someone with PCIE 1.1 wanted to buy GTX980, he will still gettin the 94% performance...

And this was for 1080p. If you go for higher res, the % loss is even lower...

So from what we know PCI-E 3.0 will be enough not only for Pascal, but even for Volta (the generation after Pascal)...

And as most people said, when you feel that GTX970 isn't enough for the gaming you will do, you can always buy a new Pascal or Volta card...

Ignore all that bs. People with 2+ year old rigs upgrade their GPU's all the time down the road. You have nothing to worry about, you can swap GPU's as much as you want.

Alright, thanks for making that really clear and regaining my confidence in my rig. Sweet charts!
