we all rememeber how we reacted to well.. this

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=571&card2=606

well it appears nvidia is up to their old tricks and plans to pull another from its hat with the 560ti.. the 560 (no ti)

speaking frankly its a gtx 460 with an overclock

336 parallel processing unit's

56 texture units

32 rops

core clock of 800mhz (up from 675)

it should be available sometime near the end of april/start of may and pricing though not listed i suspect will be higher than the current 460.

*sigh* That crap is both annoying and very confusing, especially when most people refer to the current GTX 560 Ti as just GTX 560. What makes a Ti card? I never really understood what is special/different about a Ti card.

technically speaking the gtx 590 is called the 590 ti

perhaps its an excuse to rebage cards like they culd rebadged the 450 the 440..ti and such in order to be competitive.. or perhaps its just their naming deptartment trying desperately from starting the suffix wars up again.. pro, le, xt, xtx, gt, gto, gts, gtx, gtx+, ultragtx, se.. yeah thats all we need MORE confusion

Isn't the gap from a GTS 550 like 10% to the 560 Ti, so this is like 5% better than the 550 and 5% worse than the 560 Ti....

So confusing and close.

Using AMD Mobility Catalyst 11.3, it has renamed my laptop's Mobility Radeon HD 5730 to Radeon HD 6570M...

Mobility Radeon HD 57x0 ~= Radeon HD 6570M.

Both AMD and NVIDIA renames products. Mobility Radeon HD 5165 ~= Mobility Radeon HD 4670 i..e. AMD's reason was due to the presure from OEMs.

This sounds just as bad as the 460 "SE" version.

Why cant they just name it GTX 555?

i know right? this is going to be very hard for us techies to talk to people who are not techies. once these cars come out, you will alot of post of people saying "look at this GTX 560 (no ti) for like this great price. should i buy it?" its going to be the GTX 460SE all over again. telling people not to buy them because its a rip off

yes but in laptops amd can be forgiven its not their doing well there anyway

but in a desktop environment to see such things is just shameful.

Wow.. What a stupid idea. I really didn't think they would come out with a card called plain old "560" this round because of the 560 Ti. The Ti having higher clocks and 384 cores instead of 336.

This is like an 8800gt ----> 9800gt type change. So stupid. At least with the 8800 to 9800 conversion some of the 9800's used the 55nm process. Now we'll have factory OC'd GTX 460 1GB's beating out GTX 560's (non Ti, lol..), and both using the 40nm process. They'll probably use the same exact PCB too.

sure the naming might be stupid but if the price is correct ( $150-175 ) and offers better power consumption and considering is higher clocked gtx460 i dont see the problem

I would bet money that the price is at least $190 to 200 at launch. Probably higher.

There is a special place in hell reserved for the people behind naming Nvidia/AMD/Intel products. Just when I thought Nvidia was getting things right with the (relatively) simple 590/580/570/560/550 progression, too...

I guess they painted themselves in a corner with the lackluster 550 Ti (should've just called it the 550 and made this the Ti version), but it's still inexcusable.

That would make sense if they hadn't already put a "GTX" badge on the 550.

can it be that they have like so many GTX 460 gpus left over that they want to get rid of them, so the only way to get rid of them is call it GTX 560 with out the TI and sell it in the same price range as a normal GTX 460 to.

but still feel sorry for all the people what are and WILL fall for this trick :(
