This is pretty funny stuff. Obviously GPU's cant run any kind of program but when they do Intel cant deny they kick the living **** out of ANY CPU out there.

It's like why don't we just convert GPUs into CPUs? Also for video converting they seem to suck but maybe thats just due to the software not being optimized for it.

GPU's suck for video converting? I have seen insane results by using my GPU instead of my CPU, lightning fast as a matter of fact. They were only 720p videos so that may be the reason. ATi seems faster when it comes to encoding videos.

They emphasize different tasks, they go hand in hand; who cares about raw speed.

Intel made a huge PR error there. But NVIDIA also made a few mistakes in their answer:

  • They complain the the last-gen 280 was tested. The paper was written in '09 - the 280 was the most advanced GPU from NVIDIA at that time, due to all the delays.
  • Thay say it probably was "out of the box" unoptimized testing. That is not true, Intel's paper states the methodology and optimization done.

Source

But no doubt, Intel had a brain-fart.It would be the same as admitting that "AMD's CPUs" are 'only' 14 times faster than ours. Not 100 as they claim". :-)
