Starting December, Nvidia will be pushing their up to date software drivers exclusively via GeForce Experience and no where else.

Meanwhile for those old school folk or people who hate GeForce Experience, Nvidia will keep on posting driver updates via the Nvidia website but this package will only be updated on a "per quarter basis". In other words, you will only be getting 4 driver packages per year on the Website.

Just having geforce experience is known to cause a lot of frame rate issues for some people in cs go. I don't have that issue, but this is really dumb.

Can you just install the driver and then uninstall the GeForce Experience software?

Sounds like it's the only way to do it. Install Geforce Experience, install driver, deinstall Geforce Experience. Or just give up and let it run. I've never had a problem with it running in the background, but I understand how frustrating this is for those of you who don't want it. Really stupid move, I don't see how they'll benefit from more people having Geforce experience runnning. It's a background program, you barely ever look at it.

So after reading some reasons why people hate GeForce Experience, I unistalled it and tested a few games....

And.... wow. The shuttering thing is true. I was having slight shutter issues on the Witcher 3 and I thought it was SLI shutter. Nope. Now it is smoother than before.

I think it's one of the options inside the software, not the actual software installed.

Custom instead of express on driver install options. I do just the video drivers and uncheck the rest

Thanks for posting it. xD

Forcing Geforce experience in order to update sux. :/

I was always downloading manually the drivers from Nvidia site.

Nope, the other way lol.

"Oh I'm going Nvidia cos the drivers are stable"

"Green team has better drivers"

"Woohoo no more micro-stutter using SLI'

And the countless others...

Why would they do a bad move and let AMD back in? And this is the one advantage Nvidia has had for awhile (drivers).

That's why I always do but looks like we won't be able to anymore cause you will need GeForce Experience to download the actual driver.

(you can always uninstall GF Exp. but it's useless extra steps)

Oh yeah! I LOVE me some forced software.

Really...I wish every game had it's own launch program (steam, origin, uplay, etc). And please...force it all on me. Just make sure they all start on boot to make booting slower. Every driver for every component should have it's own crap software too. SSD firmware updates? Please Samsung...make me download bloatware for it!

C'mon guys...this is the future. Learn to love it!

So they can make PC games look even worse then consoles. This Gen is dead. I hate gerforce experience. Especially the optimized settings as it always sets my resolution to DSR 4k.

Keep a copy of the latest driver you have installed... re-install it to get geforce experience, download new one through GFE, install it, uninstall GFE?

im sure there is a way we can blame AMD for this :P.

i think i will stick to the 3-4 driver updates a year to be honest. thats how often i update them anyway. i used to be a serial updater but i have found that just updating them the odd time or in the very rare case that you run into trouble does the same thing.

pretty crappy by nvidia though. im really hoping AMD get their linux driver in better shape when im deciding on hardware for my next PC. stuff like this does not add points to the nvidia camp.

There's also this way, think they do the same thing but idk for sure...

on top of this they are forcing people to give away their email address to get these updates. i'm getting tired of nvidia. if anything amd makes next year pays off im switching to them. after being ripped off with my 970's "4gb of ram". i have no more loyality to these fuckers

ever since they created this "geforce experience" driver update sizes have nearly tripled in size. Just for this application which i don't like or use. By the sounds of it they will only be releasing driver updates the old way quarterly. So if you want the newest updates you are all forced to use their garbage software.

if they are doing this to save bandwidth, they should release drivers without geforce experience included, that right there would do it.

Difference being that the "forced" updates of Win10 are security and vulnerabilities patches (important, and you can turn them off anyway so they aren't forced).

This is just a utility software.

I used the registry edit to set updates to notifications only. Every time I use my laptop it always puts a stupid prompt saying that updates need to be installed. I have to click "get updates" because I can't click on anywhere else on my screen. Then I have to go and close that window, and then the next time I use my laptop the same screen will popup.

Most of the time those "important" updates are windows defender updates.

You always over-complicate things.

Just disable Windows Update service. I tested it for 2 months, not one prompt.

It's smart.

One of the big reasons they have trouble fixing all these problems is because everyone has their own way of installing it.

Let it have one dedicated pipeline that it can troubleshoot exclusively.

They can **** right off. I hate Geforce experience. Just another of the currently far to many fucking things taking up room on my computer or charge from my laptop. Hell I haven't used geforce experience on my computers since the first time I installed it realized it didn't do a single thing I needed and only added more background chatter. Screw Nvidia, Next desktop gpu will have to be an AMD.

Take a chill pill dude, there are ways around it.

I don't agree with it either but doesn't mean I'm going to go AMD cause of it.

People just need to let NVIDIA know that we are not happy with the decision and hopefully they backtrack on it. In the meantime, you still get drivers off the webpage.
