i am currently a half elf ranger and i want to be an arcane archer
what do you reccomend i do in terms of multiclassing, feats, attributes etc...

First, I would suggest you actually read your stat descriptions, because they're all extremely detailed if you just took the time to look.
Second, I'm not too familiar with Arcane Archers, so I can't really answer that question, but you could always google the DnD 3.5 source books and read the details about the class and feats available.
One thing you'll need to be is a level 1 spell caster. I don't think it matters if you pick wizard, bard, or sorcerer. I picked a wizard and I suggest you do the same. Wizards use intelligence to determine their maximum spell casting level. You'll need at least an 11. As an added bonus, intelligence governs how may skill points you have to use each time you level up. Bard's and srocerers use charisma to determine spell level.
As far as feats go that mostly up to you. Next time you level up, scroll down the list of classes and click on arcane archer. In the desciption there is a list of requirements. it will included several feats. Get these first. After that, pick whatever you like. I usually stick mostly with feats that impove saving throw rolls. For example, lightning relex is a good one to have.
You might want to concider one of the manufacturing skills. Since you're an acrane archer I suggest weapon crafting. Make yourself a duskwood bow as soon as you can. They are light, powerful, and sell very well.
Even if you don't want to play with one of the two NPC spell casters you'll eventually get access to give one of the the craft wonderous items feat and enchant arms and armor feat. All crafted arms and armor can be enchanted. If I remember right there are 4 enchantment slots. That duskwood bow will automatically come with 2. Pick the other two wisely. All NPC team mates gain experience even if their not in your party so you don't have to drag those casters around to get their skills up.
also does strength increase damage of bows or is damage of bows based on dexterity?Lemonio
It depends on hardcore you are. For the most part the whole point to AA levels is to increase your ability to hit things with a bow. However if youre only playing the regular game and not going online that will never be a huge issue anyway so you could make a nice ranged/melee hybrid if you wanted that is Str based and still be able to hit stuff with a bow.
To answer your question, STR does not give bonus damage unless you can get a composite bow. It will have the "mighty" designation on it.
If you want to make a character that is maximized you need to go all Dex. Doing so will give you an extra +5 to +7 AB with Bows depending on your epic feat choices. The best combo for a maximized AA would be something like fighter/ranger + Wizard/Bard + levels in Assassin/Shadow Theif/Shadowdancer/Rogue + 9 levels of AA.
ok thanks. i did 6 levels of ranger 1 level of sorceror and now i have one level of arcane archer
Edit: also so do i not need any wisdom?
because if i'm going to be arcane archer i wont need the ranger spells that use wisdom right?
if i don't need wisdom i'll just use the console and put those points into dexterity
its weird i tried making my dexterity more through console and i didn't see a big difference, so i made by dexterity 40 and i did less damage 0,0
does changing stats through console like not work or something?
Lemonio
Dexterity does not have anything to do with damage, it is used for Attack Bonus on ranged attacks and bonus AC. If you use a composite bow and have a high strength then you will see a difference in damage, hope ths helped.
i was in fact using a composite bow, but anyway, i should see an increase in damage with bows right?LemonioIf you increase your strength, Dexterity does not add any damage to bows, but strength will to a composite bow.
