Um those recommended specs are higher than Oblivions, no way Oblivion Rec'd an 8800 GT, since it wasn't even out yet.

Same engine. Same developers. Different theme. Worse graphics. Roughly looks like the same game.

Still debating whether to get this and Far Cry 2 for the PC or 360. My PC isn't very powerful though, so I'm leaning towards the 360 versions. My specs are P4 3GHz with HT, 8600gt and 2GB of RAM.

Any advice as to which platform I should get them for?

it was a mid-range card on release to begin with. even GTX200 series is listed as recommand, nothing to feel bad about it; yet, it's Beth and it's Oblivion 2, it's expected. when Oblivion 3 come out, I'd guess 8800GT would be a minimum.

Lol I feel ya, when I pick up my pc in May the 260/280 and 4870/4850 wasn't even out yet, a year later and its already the recommend graphics card, ohh well I plan on getting a 4870 before years end anyway, but its sad to say the least.

let me set u straight: any game that has shooting involved (as heavily as it is in FC2) is best played on a mouse and keyboard. Think about it - which is faster, an analog stick or a mouse?

Worse graphics than Oblivion? I'd say that they just did the same graphics. The game doesn't look bad, but not that revolutionary either. But then again, i don't rlly care. As long as the gameplay delivers, it could look like space war and I'd still play it.

Fallout is going to be great and probably more immersive than oblivion ever was, the graphics are a step up from Oblivion definately, your a fool to think otherwise and whilst the system seams to look fairly similar to they way oblivion operated, i think that the 'Oblivion 2: Fallout' stuff needs to die.

It will be a fun lengthy game that will keep people entertained for good amount of time.

I have this preordered just becaue of my love for fallout 1 and 2, they both has such great atmosphere,story and world in the game.

But i am soo worried that ill be a bit dissapointed in fallout3. Im keeping an open mind as i do with everything (games, music and especially movies). I might end up cancelling my preorder, but for now its still there.

I must admit that this is the most unsure and uneasy ive felt about a game coming out that i have preordered. Only time will tell i guess though.

No, if your laptop runs Oblivion at the lowest settigns odds are you won't be able to run this, this game requires a minimum Nvidia 6800GT where with Oblivion you could run it on the old FX cards, it only needed 128mb of ram, this one 256mb (video ram that is) ..... chances are with a laptop it is the GPU that will be your downfall and i'd say you won't have one good enough.

Says captain game developer over here. Oblivion is still a great game to play, and it sickens me seeing people judging games by graphics. Oblivions graphics aren't bad. If they brought out another expantion pack I'd buy it instantly, it was a great game (glaring level up flaws aside). Sorry it wasn't more japanese for you.

Post apocalyptic games rarely are pretty. Every game engine, even Cryengine 2, would look bad if limited to just greys and browns. And remember, Fallout 1& 2 also looked like puke, even considering the graphics technology at the time. That didn't stop them from being good games, though.

You have managed to *dramatically* increase the system requirements for this game compared to Oblivion; while developing for the exact same hardware that you built Oblivion on. You have reached a whole new level of crappy optimisation with no/minor graphical increase.

I suppose I cannot be too surprised, Bethesda has a history of crappy coding, it will be especially worse now that they don't give a flying **** about their PC audience.

the graphics are technically better, but the artstyle is terribly dated. It's very 90's except all the pip stuff... it's still cool, the rest sucks tho

And I know I'm being a graphics whore, but since the gameplay isn't going to be anything brilliant, the least I could expect it something pretty to look at.

But i dont understand why post apocalyptic games dont have colours,its not like there isnt blue sky anymore or some green here and there mixed with some other colours :(
