Iv never Oc'ed a cpu before, i was wondering if you could tell me if iv done it right.......

I went into bios and ajusted er.....somthing frequency from 200 to 225, it now says 3.60 in bios but in dxdiag it still says 3.2?

Question, is that all i need to do? is it gonna be safe? and what kind of temp dont i want to reach.

And no evildead i dont want an i5 ;)

what did you set it to? get out your motherboard manual and look for a bios reset button/switch/jumper.

I really wish people would read more into overclocking before attempting it.

In the TC's defence, some of the overclocking guides I've come across are pretty poorly written.

Put that setting back and increase the multiplier.

Seconded. If you've got an unlocked multiplier, use it! There's no point in fiddling around with the FSB if you have the quick 'n easy method of modifying the multiplier at your disposal.

1. Make sure you have adequate cooling. Stock cooling won't get you far. I recommend the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+. I use that on my 1090t. 2. Familiarize yourself with your motherboard's method of resetting. 3. Go into BIOS 4. Increase multiplier to 20 5. ??? 6. 4GHz/profit If it isn't stable at that speed with stock voltage, I wouldn't mess with the voltage since you seem pretty new at this. Just lower the multiplier a bit. Or if you're comfortable with changing the voltage, I use 1.45V to get to 4GHz stable.

no thats not possible, put ur video card back in there, bump up the multiplier 1 step at a time, don't overdo it. What is your powersupply? Make sure before you overclock your psu is decent and can give enough amps to all the parts.

Don't worry. Weird stuff like that happens all the time. I somehow fried my friend's monitor by testing out my sound card in his system once :?
