Ok so I keep trying to OC my Q6600 and my PC will quit booting.

I have the MSI P7N SLI Platinum and some Mushkin DDR2 800.

I guess the big thing is I"m really not sure how high I can set PC before I need to change voltage, also not sure how to set RAM speed in accordance with CPU.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

hmm how high do u want ur processor to go? I have the same processor currently oc'd to 2.6 (I don't have sufficient cooling in my case). What type of cooling do you have? ur ram i believe can only handle a FSB of 400 and lower so your max would be 3.6 without changing the ram speed. After about 2.6ghz you would need to raise your voltage. What are your current temps (use OCCT tool)

I have the same mobo and it is a bios problem from what I have read you need to update the bios I guess there is a beta available that helps with this problem. I have an intel e8400 wolfdale and have the same problem I am going to wait for an offical bios update.

So after a long and tedious process, I finally have managed to at least get my processor at 3.0ghz (333mhz x9). I ran prime95 for an hour and temps for CPU peeked at 60c but quickly fell back to around 58c at full load.

That is a little high of temps IMO and will reduce the life of your processor over time. You might want to try lowering it a tad or getting some better cooling. Of course if you have money to blow that is fine as well =)

That was with me running Prime95 for a hour, I've played Crysis and some other games longer than that and temp never got that high.

max without having to raise voltage is about 2.7ghz on a Q6600
